Brea, CA Real Estate News

Brea is so cool!  I love being involved with a community that finds value in art.  There are some beautiful pieces of are all around our city.  One of the newest pieces is right in front of my favorite community... Olinda Ranch.  This piece is called Red Tail Hawk.  Here is something very cool that the City of Brea's newsletter is featuring this month."On January 18 and January 19, CNN Headline News: Local Editionwill air a segment featuring Brea's Art in Public Places Program. The segment will highlight art education activities that coincide with the installation of a new public sculpture, Red Tail Hawk, by sculptor Michael Stutz, at Olinda Ranch Park earlier this year, as well as the release of a DVD, produced by our Communications & Marketing Division which covers all of the events. ...

As many other people have resolved, I have made my New Years resolution to lose weight and get fit for 2008. I know that is cliche, but I find that as I get older those Christmas pounds don't shed as quickly or easily as they used to. As a former athlete I have the tools necessary to lose the weight, but what I lack is the motivation. As if getting dressed in front of the mirror isn't enough motivation (yikes!). I have rounded up 15 friends and associates to create our own BIGGEST LOSER competition. On January 7th, everybody weighed in, got their bodyfat tested and measurements taken. Every 2 weeks for the next 3 months we will re-weigh and measure ourselves. Hopefully by following stricter diets and exercise routines we will see some progress. I think we will see more progress than I t...

If you live in Southern California, or if you plan to be in the area on the weekend of February 8-10, you won't want to miss the hilarious and touching production, "Diva Dish," at  the Brea Civic and Cultural Center's own newly remodeled Curtis Theatre. The show is written and performed by Luke Yankee whose mother, Eileen Heckart, was a popular and busy actress for over forty years, appearing on Broadway and the big screen, including winning a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award® for "Butterflies are Free." She also made numerous television appearances, including a recurring character on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Ellen.Luke is the youngest son of Heckart and John Harrison Yankee, Jr., to whom she was married from 1944 until his death in 1997. Luke himself is an accomplished direct...

January 2008 Newsletter HAPPY NEW YEAR!  DESPITE SLOWDOWN THINGS COULD BE LOOKING UP IN '08... Let's face it.  2007 was a terrible year for real estate.  Never mind that we had 10 years of growth beyond prosperity and that we homeowners had achieved more equity than was due us. Still, 2007 rocked the real estate world from seasoned investor, to casual home "flipper," to longtime homeowner and first time buyer.  What happened?  What didn't happen to the market?  Homeowners lost $160 billion in net equity, foreclosures on single-family hit 1.69% by the third quarter of '07, the worst in decades and 5.6% of all home mortgages in the country were delinquent by 30 days or more. (Obviously due to sub-prime mortgages.)  Sales tanked in almost every market that had seen hyperinflation in home p...

Everyone is aloud their right to rant in my opinion.... so this will work for mine today. If you need to sell right now, you may not think it the most opportune time.  Perhaps it isn't when compared to 2005.  However, the equity adjustment you will make is still proportionately less than the appreciation you received during the last 10 years.  But if you are thinking of buying, what are you waiting for?  T his is the buyer's part of the cycle.  People are not properly defining this part of the real estate cycle.  It's called the "down" cycle, or the "bust" cycle, and people get scared and stay away.  The proper definition of this cycle is "buyer cycle."  When else should you buy?  When housing prices are going up?  True, that's when most people buy, but most people buy in a seller's mar...

Once the best kept secret of interior designers and savvy Realtors, staging a home is now a staple of the selling process. Thanks to a plethora of how-to shows, anyone with a basic cable hookup can observe the art of staging from concept to completion. Sellers now ask how their homes should be staged; buyers now cast a more enlightened eye on trying to look past the staging. So, is staging a house really that important to making the sell?Well, yes and no.In a seller's market or a highly desirable neighborhood, staging may not make the difference between moving the house off the market or watching your "for sale" sign become part of the landscaping.  The same is true of houses that will be specifically marketed to the fixer upper buyer. But, for most homes, staging can add dollars to the a...

Brea Canyon is a long stretch of road that winds through the canyons separating Diamond Bar, California and Brea, California It is a long windy road that residents of the two cities take more often than the 57 Freeway (Orange Fwy.) Three known deaths have happened on Brea Canyon Road, some speculate the deaths are due to the lack of lighting and dangerous turns the road has at night. It is cut in the middle by the Orange County and the Los Angeles County line, known as the Orange Curtain. View Homes for Sale in Brea Canyon. Chino Hills Homes for Sale

Brea, CA is a wonderful community located in Northern Orange County, it's been home for our family for over thirty years.Downtown Brea at Birch Street, also known as the  Birch St. Promenade is just North of Imperial Hwy. and just West of Brea Blvd. It's a small area of town with shops, movie theaters, restaurants and smaller eateries.During the summer locals and visitors alike can enjoy an outdoor concert, dining alfresco, a classic car show, or a wide variety of other events on Birch St. It'salways a fun place to be. At holiday time, many of us look forward to the giant ornaments on display at various locations this time of year. They've become a family favorite photo opportunity for personalized Christmas cards through the years. Or you can always find one of Santa's "green" reindeer...

How did your home price fare the changing market?  You have heard about it on the radio.  You have read about it in the paper.  You have seen reports about it on the evening news.  The real estate market is on a downward turn in most of the US, and Olinda Ranch is not an exception to that fact.  I am sure this is not new news to anyone, but what are the actual numbers for our neighborhood specifically? Homes SOLD during 2007 in Olinda Ranch:  35•·   KB Homes(condor, hummingbird, hawks, falcon, mockingbird ect.) - 18 SOLD, 6 Currently Listed, 0 In EscrowPrices have dropped approx. 14% from the peak price to today. •·   Shea Homes (starling, skylark, sandpiper, partridge) - 8 SOLD, 3 Currently Listed, 0 In EscrowPrices have dropped approx. 17% from the peak price to today. •·   Van Dale ...

This past week I was reflecting about all of the great Realtors that have unfortunately had to leave our industry over the course of the past year to find a way to feed their family.  While this pill was hard to swallow, it made me wonder what was going to happen to all of their past clients and SOIs.  So I started calling a few of them that I was close to just to find out if they were still going to service those people during this down time or if they were done all together.  Low and behold most of them said they did not plan on coming back to real estate in the future.  So of course at that point I offered to take care of any and all of these peoples real estate needs with the same integrity and level of service they would have been given, if they would just give me all of the contac...
