  They call it, “Vannin-For-Tots”, and this weekend it’s being held here at the San Benito Fair Grounds in Hollister, CA, Locals know this as, ”Bolado Park”. I’ve never been but it sure sounds like a weekend of fun with an even better purpose. There is an entry fee at the gate that varies for Car, Van or RV, plus 2 new and unwrapped toys valued at $7 or more.    Parents are asked to bring a wrapped gift for every child in your vehicle so Santa can present it to them when He visits on Saturday.     A big hello from Hollister to all my fellow Rainer’s, it’s “Cyber Monday tomorrow…. Are you ready? Not everyone is aware of this one and for any other readers like me, I wouldn’t want you to be confused, so here goes.   Being raised as a good Catholic boy I was a bit perplexed with this one as I’m sure many others were as well. Was this a Holiday I have been oblivious to all these years? Well I was glad to hear, and quite relieved in fact that this “Cyber Monday” was not mixed in with Good Friday, Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday in any way.     The day after, Black Friday” and right here in my home town of Hollister, CA, we’re encouraging everyone to practice shopping local. Helping all of our local merchants and residents in these troubled times is what communities are about and it shouldn’t just be the tight knit communities like our in Hollister but every community.   When you walk your downtown area to do your local shopping you may find it to be perplexing, how can I get all my shopping done when I don’t have the selection needed to fulfill my list? And with one of my favorite stores no longer here, what can I do for those items?    It’s no surprise that you will find many stores vacant, but the “For Rent” signs in Hollister all read, “This store is not empty, it’s full of potential” and that my friends is the future…...

     3 days of menu and dessert preparations, 2 days shopping for food, 6 hours of cooking & drinking (yes I’m not going to lie at this point), 55 seconds for hand holding and a prayer…. Priceless!   Twelve minutes later the grandson gets up from the table to go play video games??? I know…right are you flippin kidding me? I wanted to hit him with a drumstick and watch him reboot… but I didn’t. I just smiled and said, “Kids these days”, it was at that moment that I actually understood what parents really feel when they speak these same words. I know and understand the amount of restraint it takes to be able to do that and my hat is off to the parents of today, Amen to you all!

      The day before the big "Turkey" day and with much to do still I have to approach it as any other day in the life of a Realtor®. There is a bit of a glitch in this one though, I still have no Turkey in my possession! It’s like the documents are all signed and ready but we’re waiting on a funding condition that the seller clients are unaware of; you know it will happen but currently you are unable to move forward. An appropriate analogy that I’m sure any Realtor® can relate to……just not my wife.      With that said I am off to the market here in Hollister to satisfy a condition before the client (my wife) becomes aware of this minor, but important, delay. To each and every person I reach and their friends and family as well, I wish you a very safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Eve!

  I have to admit this “30 blogs in 30 days challenge”, is sneaking up on me lately. For whatever reason I thought I had handled this all this morning and wanted to take a casual walk in the rain when I was caught in a Hollister downpour!  Wait a minute it says I haven’t been on in a day? How can that be? Of course it was right and I am now fumbling to write about my own forgetfulness. I have approached this just as I would if I was prospecting and getting it done first thing in the morning. I am thinking with family coming into town I had better start posting some drafts just in case, I wouldn't want to wake up the morning after!
