The Best Truck Racks on the West Coast, Right Here in Shingle Springs, CA.   A few years ago I was in need of a lumber rack for my truck. I did my research and noticed that the trucks on the road usually had the same truck rack manufacturer – Rack-It truck Racks. This is not an exaggeration, 90 % of the truck racks that I see on the road are manufactured by Rack-It, right here in Shingle Springs, CA. Well that must be because they are a local manufacturer, Right? Not really, the same is true in the San Francisco Bay area, Southern California, even Oregon. They must be doing something right for so many contractors and truck owners to be buying their product. The racks are fully welded for maximum strength, 10 gauge rounded steel, welded hooks, and so much more. Check out the details he...

Unsafe Deck Railings, It’s Important to Check Regularly   It is important that apartment complexes regularly inspect the exterior railings for unsafe conditions. Loose boards, rotted wood, popped nails, and damaged posts can all lead to injury.   The railing in this photo looks pretty bad from this side of the railing and should be corrected. From the other side, the view is a little different. There is a board that hides the board that is falling off. You can imagine someone leaning on the railing thinking it is safe, or a small child grabbing the boards to look out and what may happen. No one wants to be injured, it is the responsibility of management and owners to insure that the deck railings are safe to use.

Are you reaching your target market? - Photo   Outdoor Advertising can be a good marketing tool for many local professions. The location of the signage, the message on the board, and the cost all need to be taken into account before making the commitment to this medium.   I was in Shingle Springs getting some concrete at the local landscape supply yard. While I was getting hooked up to the mixer trailer I noticed an outdoor advertising sign from the back. The sign faces the highway; in fact the highway is a couple hundred feet away. Just past the trees in front of the sign.  J I wish I could tell you what was on the sign, I didn’t see it. In fact I drive past this sign, on that highway at least once a day. I do not know what the Outdoor Signage says. There are many different types of ...

Flat roofs can have its own problems; dry rot is one of them.   Flat roofing can be a problem because it is difficult to get all the water to drain off the roof. If the roof sags at all, the water will puddle until it evaporates. The puddles can cause the roof to sag a bit more; more water will be resting on the roof. If there is any failure in the roofing, the moisture can accumulate quickly into the plywood, and framing below. This can cause wood rot to begin. Flat roofs do not last forever, so regular inspection and maintenance is highly recommended. A well maintained roof will last a long time before a new water proof membrane is necessary. It may be a good idea to contact a qualified roofer contractor to give you his opinion about the flat roof.   There are some simple things that...

Shingle Springs Neighborhood - Hacienda De Estrellas   Shingle Springs is a community just up Highway 50 to the East from El Dorado Hills. If you want to be just a little bit more in the country Shingle Springs is where you want to be and the Hacienda De Estrellas Neighborhood is where I would want to be - close to the freeway but not so close you hear it!.            Once inside the gates, the streets meander past custom homes surrounded by beautiful Heritage Oaks and mature landscapes. It reminds me so much of my favorite El Dorado Hills Neighborhood -Sterlingshire.                          Hacienda De Estrellas consists of 95 (mostly flat) lots ranging in size from .66 acres to 5.35 acres with almost 2/3 of them one acre plus.                                       There are homeowner...

In El Dorado County, the stinging insects are flourishing. Bees, hornets, wasps, and yellow jackets are all on the move right now. Even if you are not allergic, the sting is painful!  Since there are so many flying around right now, a few are bound to somehow get in. Be prepared! Have your sprays, papertowels, or flyswatters ready to do business.   How are they getting in? Common ways these insect are getting into your home. No screens / holes in screens Doors are left open Insect screens are not installed correctly Check what you carry in Poor weather stripping   These are just a few ideas. You may have some ideas yourself.  I notice that if I run the whole house fan, the number of bugs increase. I may be sucking them in with the fan. So if you live in El Dorado County and you are expe...

I recently posted about an online company that I use for designing and producing t-shirts. When I need top-notch custom stitchery I go to a local woman, Jean Meyer, who does amazing work. Jean is the owner of Sierra Stitch Factory in Shingle Springs.   I was in need of some polo shirts with the Tromler Construction name on front. I wanted it embroidered and was open to the type of materials. She has made several for me in the past using fabrics that I did not know were available.   Rather than order a bunch of the same shirts, she allowed me to get different shirts with the same stitching on them. All of the shirts were high quality, professional work shirts that I will be proud to wear when meeting with clients.   When it comes to stitching she can do it all. Once I was in her of...

Well my youngest son turned 18 yesterday and graduated from high school tonight. Kind of a sad time but one of excitement for the future. He will be off to college soon, moving on in his life as a young man. I don't really feel all that different today. Just another milestone in his life. soon he will be getting married, having kids, owning a home, and on and on. Tonight he will be at Sober Grad Night with the majority of his graduating class. SGN is a party-like atmoshere for the students, supervised by parents and teachers in a fun environment. the students are bused there after the graduation ceremony and back from the location in the morning. He will probably sleep most of the day tomorrow.     View Larger Map

Social media sites like Facebook has reached far and wide in a short amount of time. I like Facebook mainly because it is easy just to share ideas, get quick updates on my friends (without having to chat endlessly - just kidding. ) Anyway, I noticed something odd today on Facebook. A friend of mine had a birthday (Facebook reminded me) so I posted on his wall "Happy Birthday Larry". I then scrolled down to see other posts and on that first page I saw a different post from me. What! Did I post in the middle of the night? Kind of like "sleep posting" or something. Or worse yet, someone may have hacked my account. I checked the time of the post and noticed that it was from last year on the same date. Are you kidding me! Two of the top ten posts are from me - one year apart. Crazy. So then ...

Sogno Winery in Shingle Springs, CA (El Dorado County, California) Sogno Winery is the best-kept secret in the Greater Sacramento Area ("Sogno" means "dream" in Italian and is pronounced "sewn-yo".) I would rank them as the #1 Northern California Winery outside of Napa/Sonoma Wine Country because they not only make an extensive selection of wines...but they really know how to make exceptional bottles of wine! A visit to the Sogno Winery in Shingle Springs is a delightful way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It is located between El Dorado Hills and Placerville on Highway 50, just before Red Hawk Casino. Sogno Winery offers a large wrap-around patio with lots of seating that overlooks their vineyards. Just to give you an idea, here are the wines I enjoyed enough to take home duri...
