Every year at this time, the hills come alive with an explosion of yellow in Amador County.  The place where it all happens is Daffodil Hill near the little Mother Lode town named, "Volcano."I have been spending time with a few of my granddaughters these past few days; and it seemed appropriate to pack a picnic and pay homage to the blossoms:-)The 4 acre farm has been in the McLaughlin family since 1887.  During the past two decades, the family has planted 6,000 new bulbs each year, continuing the family tradition and legacy.  Over 300,000 bulbs are estimated to now populate the farm.Due to snow blanketing the area during the weeks of usual showing (mid March to Mid April), Daffodil Hill is now closed early for the season.  But, I highly encourage those that are in the area, to put it o... 04/09/2010

The Volcano area of Amador County has only 8 current residential real estate listings for sale. Right now the average asking price in the area is $ 649,862 and the average time it is taking to sell a home is 271 days. In the last month one house has been listed and none have sold. The median price right now in the Volcano area is $ 500,000. The median priced property is a wonderful estate with a 2/2.5 main house and a smaller 2/1 plus a shop and out buildings. So far this year, as of September 5th. 2007. These numbers can tell you some about the state of the real estate market here in Amador County, but they can be a bit confusing sometimes, as they don’t paint a very simple picture. In a community as small as Volcano just a few sales can change the market statistics dramatically.
