Often people from out of the area will comment about how they thought the "Rocky Mountains" should be green. Well, the Front Range is basically prarie and it's dry. Anybody who reads my blog my think that Pueblo County CO is just flat grass land. But the truth is Pueblo has a varity of topography. The song America the Beautiful says "from the mountains to the prairies." That's what you can find in Pueblo County. This picture is of Rye Colorado. Rye Colorado   The tiny town of Rye Colorado sits on highway 165 in the San Isabel forest. Once named Table Top Mountain the name was shortened to save the post master grief. A beautifully forested area, and home of the rediscovered Green Back Cut Throat Trout and Bishops Castle. The population of approx 200 swells with tourists in the summer months. While visiting the area go to Lake Isabel and Beckwith Reservoir, Camp, day hike or rent a cabin.   Homes in the area sell for between $25,000 for a converted cabin to $1.5 for something a little bit bigger. Just 35 miles south of the city of Pueblo but it feels like a totally different place.         06/06/2008
