No, we are not all nuts in Delaware. Just a few of us willing to aspire to the highest level of license plate snobbery! Over the weekend, an auction was held in Rehoboth Beach for inherited low digit automobile license plate numbers. Delaware may be the last state to still recycle all its vehicle license numbers going back to 1909. (We are so small that there is no chance of numbers going over 999,999). These old tin beauties are black with white numbers. Fifty years ago, blue plates with yellow numbers (once called the nation’s ugliest) replaced the black and white ones, but through some quirk in the law, the b & w ones can be replaced. It's hard to believe but this year will mark the 25th anniversary of a very popular event in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Mark your calendars now for Saturday March 17, 2015 for the Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival. It will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Convemntion Center. A new twist has been added this year allowing 200 VIP ticket holders private admission and 25 chocolate tastings from 11:00 to 1:00. A Cystic Fibrosis Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at Grove Park in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Registration starts at 8:30 AM with the walk starting at 10AM. The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is hosting the event named Great Strides. It is a national walk that generates funds to support lifesaving research, education and care.   The 23rd Annual Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival happens March 2 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. It’s not only a day for chocolate lovers to gather. Many times real estate market experts point to the feelings of the nation's home builders as a bell-weather signalling the health of the housing sector. This month's reading indicates that home builders are feeling pretty good. The National Association of Home Builders / Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) for February changed by one point to 46 as compared to 47 for January's reading. Over the last four months, HMI readings have stayed within a three-point range between 45 and 47, indicating a plateau after rising from 25 to 45 in 2012. The Band Stand in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. A swing band performed at the Band Stand in Rehobth Beach tonight. There were only six people in the group but they really put out a lot of great sound. The boardwalk and beach were quite busy tonight. A electric transformer blew out in the early evening so a lot of businesses weren't able to conduct business for several hours. Beach goers didn't seem to mind though. They were walking along in groups and pairs, laughing and carrying on conversations. The concerts at the band stand are free and have acts performing quite a few nights throughout the summer. The Sunrise Rotary Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is hosting the Ninth Annual NFC and AMC Championship Party on January 22 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. It starts at 2 PM and continues until the last game is over. The games will be shown on multiple big screen televisions. There will be special memorabilia and merchandise in a silent auction.
