A suit was filed last week regarding the decision of the US Army Corps of Engineers' permit approval and its acceptance by the US Fish and Wildlife Service of the Cypress Creek Town Center. Since earth moving equipment is already underway at the site, it was unclear if this new dark cloud would slow or stop construction of the megamall. Then on the next day, the lawsuit was dropped. Johnny Carinos in Wesley Chapel Closes and will be Up The Creek In a somewhat surprising development, the popular Johnny Carinos in Wesley Chapel has closed. The restaurant will convert to an Up The Creek Fish Camp and Grill later this year. It seems there will be another delay in the much awaited project of the Cypress Creek town center. There were some tortoise eggs found, and it was said that the plans for the upcoming mall could possibly be delayed up to 9 more months.  Although the recent activity in the area appears to be proceeding as usual. Many Pasco residents, like me, are awaiting the opening of the 2nd largest mall in Florida a 1.3 million square foot center with many retailers coming.  Including AMC movie theatres.  This will bring many more welcomed businesses and retailers with plenty of foot traffic to the area.I will be keeping you posted on any upcoming completions and delays during the construction phases of the project. 06/24/2007

The Board of Pasco County Commissioners today discussed the approval of the 5,000 acre Wiregrass Ranch development in Wesley Chapel for hours today in their meeting.  With a 4-1 vote, commissioners have continued this discussion to their July 10th meeting in Dade City.  While there seems to be a consensus that most issues have been resolved, details of roads to be included in "proportionate share", timing of roads to be built, the extension of S.R. 56 (4 vs: 6 lanes to Meadow Pointe Blvd.), parks, etc. will be revisited in their next meeting.  Russ Perlowski:  Tampa Real Estate--Selling homes in Tampa, Land O Lakes, and Wesley Chapel, FL 06/19/2007

Well, after almost a year's delay, it appears that the combined proposal by University Community Hospital / Adventist Health System was successful in getting approval of the Certificate of Need (CON) for a new hospital in Wesley Chapel.  Proposals for Wesley Chapel hospitals (80-100 beds) were made due to the high growth (past and future) for this area and the distance to a hospital in Zephyrhills or nearby Tampa (University Community Hospital) at USF.The proposed $121 million hospital is planned to be located across from Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort on S.R. 54.Russ Perlowski:  Selling Homes in Tampa, Land O Lakes, and Wesley Chapel, FL  06/15/2007

 New Wesley Chapel Malls Update The Cypress Creek Town Center is poised to begin moving dirt for construction of this megamall that has been delayed repeatedly in the permitting process. With 1.3 million square feet, this will be the largest of the three malls currently racing to the finish line.
