Located in Central Clark County in Southern Indiana, Charlestown is one of the fastest growing cities around. Established in 1808 and named after Charles Beggs, this town has grown far beyond what it once was. Charlestown was established as mainly a mill town. Housing one of the largest mills around built in 1808, Charlestown thrived on the business cultivated from the large mill located on 14 Mile Creek in the heart of the town. A few short years later, a man named John Work built a new and improved mill that transported water from the Ohio River via a tunnel.
