Hidden Lake Park Winter Wonderland in Merrillville, Indiana Hidden Lake Park is located in between Broadway and I 65.  It is the go to place for fun in the city. Playing host to the annual Christmas light display as well as the Fourth of July Celebrations. Turkey Creek runs through the park making for wonderful scenery.  The entire park has many picnic areas for large and small groups.  It also has a recreation building available for rent. Hidden Lake has a nice lake as well and a large beach area.  This is part of the play ground for the children. Look out Bambi Man is at it again!! While I am not a hunter I do understand the need to control the population of our wild animals-so ok. My issue is not with the hunting of deer but with living with them.  I live in NW Indiana just south of Chicago and it is in no way a rural area.  Going to and from my office I drive a strip of road that is two lanes with two turn lanes making it a four lane road.  Over the last several weeks I have had to stop to let assorted deer cross the road to avoid smashing into them.  Ok I've got 5 minutes I can spare to save a life.  Mine and or the deer's!!  My problem is my fellow drivers.  Last night at 7:15 I came upon a heard of 7 deer trying to cross in the same spot on the same busy street.  Trying to help, I stopped in the middle of the street, put on... 12/08/2010

  For the Young or Young at Heart, and for Animal enthusiasts, Jungle Jack Hanna's Tour called "Into The Wild" kicked off it's nationwide tour with one of it's first stops at our Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, IN. As part of Jeff's Birthday gifts, I surprised him with 3rd row tickets:) He is an avid animal lover and I kid him about buying a farm when we retire, so he can raise as many criters as he wants!
