Splendid halftimbered house in the Caux Valley Normandy France near Auffay. Charming Normand halftimbered style house in the rustic Caux Valley in North Normandy, 20 minutes from the seaside. Auffay is a typical Normand market town, offering all amenities and is a pleasure to visit. The house sits in its 2114m2 (half an acre), with a splendid view over the Normandy Valley the Caux countryside. With a recently installed new roof, you may want to do some decorating, but you can just move in and enjoy the typical outlay of a Normand Longhouse with living room with fire place, kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Attic is convertible. Electrical heating and main sewers. On the grounds there is a spacious garage and a workshop. So Auffay within minutes, the Pays de Caux in your pocket, the ...

10 things to do for free in Lower Manche, Normandy, France Well here in France it is school holiday time again next week, so I have started to think about activities with the kids and thought I would share them with you.  1.       Carolles beach      There are of course lots of beaches along the Manche coastline but this is our favourite.  As well as miles of sand in one direction you have a nice rocky out crop in the other.  This has loads of rock pools ranging from tiny ones where you can spot a few sea anemones and other sea life.  To large sand lined pools which are great for younger children to play in safety.           2.     Avranches Castle People are often surprised to learn that Avranches has a castle but it does and you are free to walk around the grounds, which include Donjo...

"Home"work when you are an estate agent in France. I proudly present a lovely blogpost from one of my Normandy agents (here I refer back to an earlier blogpost about Normandy or Normandie), Helen Wells, which she published on our agency's Blog www.terresdefrance.me . Helen Wells is both an experienced estate agent with Terres de France / Normandie|Maisons and a caring mother for her children and huby ...  ____________________________________________________   Homeworking has lots of advantages, especially when you have children.  It is great to be able to schedule work to fit around school hours and cuts down on travelling.  But it has its share of problems too.  For starters there are the school holidays, I know there are many holiday clubs you can drop your kids at but when you work c...

New Ryanair route Ryanair started a new route on April 1 from London Stansted to Strasbourg. Often overlooked as a place to visit in France, Strasbourg has great wines and great beers, and you will find both German and French cuisine. There is a wonderful 12th Century cathedral and a beautiful chocolate box area known as “La Petite France” – surely with all the terrible weather you are having, the time has come to treat yourself to a little break! Public holidays in France Everyone likes a public holiday and the good news is that there are lots to be enjoyed in France! The main difference between British and French ones is that the French ones are on fixed dates. If the public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be considered a holiday too, whereas if the holiday is on...

Hello from Normandy or Normandie and Hello from Brittany or Bretagne.. I am confused now, help !!!   Being Dutch from origin and hence happy with my language skills (nothing snotty here :-) ) I find myself now in a terrible agonizing conflict of interests. The French language is beautiful - the language of Molière - sings through the phrases, and is one to preserve. France in its own right named its beautiful regions keeping history in tact. So when I drive back home and see a sign "Bienvenue en Normandie" (Welcome in Normandie) it makes me proud. But history has made it complicated : king Henry II and Eleonor of Aquitaine from England where also King and Queen of France, and hence had a great influence on the language. So in the Anglophone countries, Normandie has changed into Normandy...
