Today let's take a look at real estate in Melrose MA and see what's been happening with prices in this lovely community. This chart shows the median sales price in the city on the black line. Last summer the median sales prices dropped and then rose again in the fall. Notice that even with the incredibly harsh and snowy winter we had, the median sales price in Melrose continued to climb until they reached a plateau in spring. The orange line tracks the average days on the market for single family homes for sale in Melrose. After staying pretty level from last spring all the way through fall, we had a large jump during the cold days of winter, so although prices were rising, it took longer for houses to sell. When I think of Melrose, I instantly think of its lovely Victorian downtown area that looks like it’s something from a Dickens story. Thankfully as the snow melts it’s looking less like Christmas and feels like spring might really be coming! The real estate market in Melrose has slowed down, but it’s still doing much better than most of the rest of the country. The city of Melrose is a wonderful bedroom community with both the Oak Grove MBTA stop and commuter rail options for car-free commuting. It has a lovely center with a Victorian flair. Here’s the latest on what’s happening in the market. (The sold statistics are for the last 6 months.) What this information shows us is that the single family market is doing well, however the condo market is continuing to struggle in the city. I have been in several meetings and conversations this week and the big question is, "Where are the buyers?"  The market is at the place they have been waiting for.  Down.  Add to the mix low interest rates and we have ourselves a fabulous recipe for great opportunities!  Is there another reason they are not buying?  Generally speaking,  buyers are still waiting for the market to bottom out.  But the only way to know we have hit bottom is when the prices start going up,  and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know, by that point, it's too late.WE HAVE HIT ROCK BOTTOM!I only wish I were in the market to buy right now. As many of you know, my favorite local restaurant is Turner's Seafood Grille and Market.  About four years ago,  Turner's underwent a major renovation that provided more seating and expanded the raw bar (my favorite spot.)  During the winter months,  the place is brimming with locals and out-of-towners alike. Expect a long wait if you forget to call ahead (after 5 PM) to be "put on the list". Here are my favorites: An ice cold UFO with lemon.  The shrimp sautee absolutely buried in garlic.  (You can sniff out someone who dined at Turner's, the night before, a mile away.)The steamers, lightly and perfectly  seasoned. The lobster taco has great heat.  The buffalo scallops with extra hot sauce.  A new item is the mussells-made-your-way.  I prefer them Belgium (Belgian) style.    This alone...
