Calvert County Farm Tour The 12th annual Calvert County Farm Tour will be held on Sunday, October 18th, 2009 from 1-4p.m. at Spider Hall Farm, Prince Frederick, MD. This 362 acre farm, purchased by current owners David and Susan Cox in December 2004, is one of the few remaining working farms of it's size in the county. The farm produces wheat, barley, corn, pumpkins, soybeans and tobacco. For the last three years, the farm has turned to agri-tourism with the addition of an 8-acre corn maze and hay rides every fall. Celebrate centuries of agriculture in Calvert County on this special day when Spider Hall Farm opens its doors for visitors to get a closer look at farming in Southern Maryland. I've never been to one of these events... YET..., but the ad for the Oct 17, 2009 Prince Frederick VFD Bull and Oyster Roast to be held 3-7 at Rt. 4 and Old Field Lane sure caught my eye in the local paper. PETS WITH DISABILITIES - Animal Rescue in Southern Maryland! Joyce Darrell, along with her husband Michael Dickerson, founded the Pets with Disabilities organization in 2000. Their lives were changed forever after their rescue dog Duke broke his back playing as a puppy.  Having nowhere to turn for help in caring for him, they started the organization Pets with Disabilities - a rescue and resource that provides information and support to families caring for pets with disabilities.
