Taylor's Island is located on Route 16 West in the southern part of the County. Unique homes, schoolhouses, and three churches are points of interest. The Becky Phipps Cannon is displayed telling of its capture from a British ship off Taylor's Island during the War of 1812. Many sites on the island are listed on the National Historic Register. The tidal marshes of Taylor's Island have been relatively untouched by the development of small towns and villages on the nearby shores. Small "islands" of loblolly pine and cedar forest dot the marsh system. This large island, comprising 1,100 acres, is a classic illustration of Chesapeake Bay tidal marsh habitat. 12/06/2011
