I represent taxpayers in the greater Saint Louis area, the state of Missouri and by being admitted to practice before the IRS can represent tax payers nationwide. Recently the IRS has stepped up there audit activity simply by contesting simple tax returns.One of the strategies that I have seen just in the last couple of weeks is questioning entries on tax returns by requesting supporting information. One tax payer who had prepared there own tax return contacted me regarding self employment deductions on there scheldule C. What I found interesting is that after reviewing the letter and the return the IRS hadn't bothered to even look at the scheldule on the return. Earlier today I wrote a post that talked about walking around things that could be a problem or a risk.  Today may have been a weird holiday but after doing that post I started to think about it.  After a brief encounter with a Doctor’s office and the way they handled a situation.  I couldn’t help but think about how I handle my customers and clients.Here is the situation; while sitting in the doctor’s office the receptionist calls out a patients name and the patient starts to walk to the window.  On her way the receptionist let’s her know that there was a problem and the insurance company wasn’t going to allow a certain test.  Now this may not sound like much but did I mention that there were others sitting in the waiting room and at least one made a comment.  Can you imagine how the p... 04/04/2011

Walk Around Things Day..........This day April 4th will always be Walk Around Things Day.Walk Around Things Day is a day to avoid problems and risks, by simply walking around the potential problem. Gee they should have called it AVOID Things Day if that’s the case.  But, you wouldn't walk under a ladder, would you?  Then, it is also wise to walk around objects, especially those that pose risk or danger."Walk around things" can also be used figuratively.  It is also wise to walk around, or avoid, topics issues, and problems that are sticky, may provoke an argument, or are not readily solved.  I guess, I prefer stirring up the pot in this instance.If ever was a day to "Walk Around Things", today is that day.  OK……Hey I could’ve written a post about another day today is; would you believe ... 04/03/2011

New national study ranks St. Charles County one of the healthiest counties in Missouri In the most recent eNewsletter from the St Charles County Economic Development Center (EDC) it noted  St. Charles County MO has again been ranked one of the healthiest counties in Missouri based on a 2011 national study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
