Isn't this guy handsome? I found him on the way to showing property in Bear Lake Reserve out in Tuckasegee, NC a couple of years ago. Another reason I love what I do, I get the opportunity to see scenes like on a daily basis. I just have to keep my mind and eyes open to the opportunity.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The one thing about real estate is that sometimes we never know when we start out in the morning where our day will lead us.   Back in the summer I headed out to Tuckasegee for new photographs of a land listing that we have. One of the property lines is shared by an old but still active church. As I wandered through the graveyard I was struck by what a risky business it was to be pregnant and have children, there were so many tiny graves with headstones documenting tiny and brief lives.

Who are we to advise an attorney to have a better umbrella policy? One of our favorite closing attorneys asked me to take a ride with her and look at a piece of property with boundary issues. It was hard to find a time frame that would work for both of us since the excursion would be a 2.5-3 hour time commitment, but finally we decided upon last Friday. The weather was gorgeous when I got up so I was looking forward to the afternoon as a great chance for a hike. By the time I’d reached the office, she had called to reschedule to Monday. Okay, it’s not like I didn’t have actual work that needed to be done. Monday arrived and we met as scheduled. The da...

Who would ever have guessed that gargoyles can be found in Tuckasegee, NC? This one and its mate stand atop twin seven foot concrete pillars and are surrounded by expensive wrought iron gates. From Cullowhee take 107 to 281, head north and go about 8 miles.     The weeds are tall and scraggly, having not been attended to in a couple of years. What could these gargoyles be guarding?     Don't you think these are the ancestors of Pekingnese dogs?  But really, gargoyles in Tuckasegee?  Really?

Another beautiful cool morning today here to be planning my day in the mountains of Western North Carolina.  Such a treat to be able to sit with the sliding glass doors open and the blogging muse is free to wander in.  There's some kind of crow conference going on outside and it seems to be a pretty spirited conversation.  Has anyone else noticed how big crows are getting?  Here they seem to be as big as ducks but with shorter necks. Ever since the apple tree next to the deck fell a month ago, the view to the rest of the trees is really been opened up.  This morning its like watching some sort of Disney special feature.  The new distance from the house gives the squirrels and birds a little more security to wander about the other apple tree without feeling like the humans could reach ou...
