An Independent Press Survey showed that local communities are putting more priority towards environmental issues.  But some towns are doing more than others.  Tune in all week to see how your town compares.Today's community:  New Providence, NJOne of New Providence's top green priorities is the renovation of the Municipal Center.  The project will include energy saving ideas such as solar energy or a possible co-generation.Mayor John Thoms created the Environmental Advisory Committee this year.  So far they have just focused on recycling efforts but have other programs in the works.  One of their primary goals is to educate the residents on what they can do as individuals to go green.  The committee is looking into working with local supermarkets to donate re-usable cloth shopping bags ...

Murray Hill Farm Forecast - Quarter 3 - 2007New Providence - Berkeley Heights - Murray Hill FarmOctober is here and change is in the air. Any of you who have been following the real estate market know that the leaves will not be the only thing falling in the next couple months. The media has been pushing the decline of home prices for sometime, yet up until now New Providence, Berkeley Heights, and Murray Hill Farm have been able to dodge this bullet quite. This is due to a number of different aspects including the train line into the city, good schools, and a desirable community environment. Unfortunately our time has come; however, it might not be as bad as you think.Prior to 2007 many real estate analysts predicted this year to be one of transition. The real estate market is cyclical...

What is happening in the New Providence NJ Real Estate market? Home sales are picking up, and the number of new homes being listed is not matching the number being sold.  The markets here for New Providence NJ Real Estate are seeing improvement every week since mid may of this year.  The local real estate markets in New Providence NJ and surrounding communities of Summit NJ, Berkeley Heights NJ, Chatham NJ & Springfield NJ are all seeing consistent recovery.  Never mind what the national news is saying, there numbers are very heavily influenced by California, Arizona, Nevada, & Florida where the real estate market is a total disaster compared to New Jersey & Union County's real estate market. Here are the actual homes which sold August 1st - August 21st 2007 Here in New Providence NJ.Add...

New Providence1720 was the year the first settlers arrived in the area now known as New Providence. With creeks, ponds, and a river for water, the relatively flat ground was good for farmland. The abundance of large flocks of wild turkeys led to the initial name for the area of "Turkey". By 1737, the Presbyterian Church was formed and was the center of life in the small settlement. In 1759, a crowded church balcony collapsed. It was considered a miracle that no one was seriously injured in the disaster. The miracle was soon referred to as a divine act of "providence", and the small town thereafter became known as "New Providence".General Information Incorporated:Population:Area:County:Websites:1899 (Settled 1720)11,3993.68 Sq. There are currently 52 single family homes on market for sale in New Providence NJ. This is down from 62 listings one month ago.Although prices have trended slightly lower, New Providence still remains an appealing option for many buyers, which has enabled homes to sell quickly if they are priced properly. Multiple offers are still a possiblity for competetively priced homes. However, if new listings continue to outpace closed sales, I expect days on market to rise for homes that are priced too high. There were 10 properties that closed in June in New Providence, and the average selling price was $706,363 and the average days on market was 51.
