  It's National Ice Cream Day and so never let it be said that I am not patriotic.  I am all about celebrating National Holidays and I certainly am not going to let this honey of a day go uncelebrated. I just got back from the Five Penny Creamery on Park Avenue in Rockville Centre.  They make their own ice cream and I might add they do it well.  I always feel that the true test of an ice cream store is their vanilla.  It is just pure ice cream no bells no whistles.  The Five Penny Creamery makes an outrageous vanilla.   Molloy College has entered into a twenty-year agreement  with the Village of Rockville Centre to further improve the athletic facilities at the Skelos Sports Complex. The Bob Klein Softball Field gives the college an NCAA-regulation softball field and provides the Village as well as the Rockville Centre School District with the cost-free use of the the upgraded field.   The annual Rockville Centre Memorial Day Parade will be on May 27th.  The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Maple Avenue and proceed down Maple to Veteran's Memorial Park in front of the Recreation Center on Oceanside Road where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m..   The Rockville Centre NY Little League will officially open its 63rd season on April 6, 2013, continuing a long tradition in Rockville Centre NY.  The parade will step off at 10 a.m. from South Side Middle School, up Maple Avenue to Hickey Field where the ceremonies will take place This year's ceremonies will also honor local Rockville Centre veterans.  Any local veteran that wants to march with the players are invited to join them at the middle school at 9:45 a.m.  If a veteran cannot march they are invited to join them on the field at Hickey. In addition the League will sponsor its 3rd Annual Food Collection Drive and all parade participants and spectators are asked to bring an item of non-perishable food to donate to local food pantries. 03/23/2013

  The 2013 Rockville Centre NY Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday March 23rd at 9:30 a.m. The hunt is being held at the John A. Anderson Recreation Center's Veterans Park on Oceanside Road in Rockville Centre NY 11570.   The Rockville Centre Police Department is looking for teenages between the ages of 14 and 20 to join the Explorers Program. The Explorer Program offers young men and women the opportunity to experience the rewards of a police career. Under the supervision of police officer advisors, explorers assist the police department at special events such as parades and public gatherings.  They are also invited to participate in the ride-a-long program where they can experience responding to calls for service and are exposed to radio operating procedures.  Also they can experience paperwork and report writing.
