Oklahoma wildflowers from my trip to take pictures of trains in Davis, Oklahoma in May of 2010. Great picture of a butterfly on a purple thistle flower. Sad little yellow flower that looks like it had seen better days.  Lovely sunny yellow color, though. One of my favorite flowers, I call this one a wine cup. Cute dandelion with its sphere of seeds ready to take off in the wind. Purple flowers with hereford cows in the background. To see some of my train pictures from Davis OK, click here.

These pictures were taken on Sunday May 16th, 2010 at the Davis Museum.  To see part I of this blog, click here.  This is a picture of the train depot/museum at Davis Oklahoma.  It is on the main highway going through Davis right near the railroad tracks. The museum is open from 10am to 4pm.  The suggested donation is $1.  The historic certificate is displayed proudly just near the front door of the musuem.  I took a picutre of this train near the musuem.  What a beautiful sunny day it was, perfect for taking pictures. Here is a diarama of olden days in Davis, OK. Here is the left side of the diarama showing the wife in her period clothes.  Look at the great cast iron stove. This section of the musuem housed lots of tools and implements used on farms.  Those glass things that look like ...

The Davis museum has lots of wonderful artifacts inside.  As you can see the hours are from 10am-4pm. They have lovely period clothing such as this wedding dress and black cocktail dress. And they also have some newspaper articles from 1861. Here are some of the uniforms on display to salute the War Years. Can you guess what this is?  It kind of looks like something from Star Trek, but look at the next picture to see what it is. Its the old version of hot curlers.  I hope you have enjoyed this glimpse of the Davis, OK musuem.  To see part II of this blog, click here.

These are pictures taken during a trip to Oklahoma.  Here are some notable pictures of plants and animals that caught my eye. These pictures were taken May 15 & 16th in between Davis, OK and Dougherty, OK. I stopped to take a picture of the purple flower that was about 5 feet tall and was able to get a picture with a butterfly on the flower. I couldn't resist a picture of these baby goats, they were so cute. This honeysuckle was growing near some railroad tracks at a quarry. Cute horse, right?  There were three of them in front of a bank in Davis, OK.

Welcome to Davis, Oklahoma.  I travelled here to attend a special train spotting weekend. This mural is in front of Davis City Hall.  The painted buffalo is also in front of the City Hall. There are also painted buffalo in West Yellowstone, Wyoming.  See my blog about Yellowstone for more pictures. Below is the depot/museum located at Davis, Oklahoma. This CSX freight train came rumbling through about 7:10pm on Saturday 5/15/10.
