Last night our local state representative debate between incumbent Greg Vitali and candidate Bill Toal took place in a neighborhood school auditorium. I like the idea of grassroots politics. At this level, we have a real chance of voting in someone who will represent the wishes of the majority of Pennsylvania voters. The League of Women Voters of Haverford Township sponsored this event and set the rules. Questions were presented by moderators who asked questions of the candidates which were written by the audience. It got exciting when one moderator tried to break the rules and stonewall the process with his own question. Haverford Music Festival 2012 Saturday there was 8 hours of Fun in the Sun in Haverford Township. 35 bands played continuously on two stages set up in the Oakmont Business Section of Havertown. Food. Drinks. Balloons. Vendors. Family fun. Happy neighbors enjoying the fabulous weather of blue skies with puffy white clouds and a slight Indian Summer Breeze. PennDOT is doing emergency road work on Manoa Road and traffic will be detoured between West Chester Pike and Darby Road. A failure in the storm drain system has caused the road to become unstable and PennDOT is currently working to backfill and repair the road. Manoa Road will be closed between Rockwood Drive and Naylors Run Road. PennDOT expects to complete the work by Friday, Feb. 10, weather permitting.
