I recently went to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Lititz, PA for an early supper. It was excellent and I would recommend it for everyone. Lititz Springs Park in Lititz, PA is one of the centerpieces of this lovely borough. It is the center of life on the fourth of July and hosts wonderful antique shows. Yesterday, my wife and I went for a 3.5 mile walk through the great walking trails in Warwick Township, the streets of Lititz and Lititz Spring Park. It was a humid day, but great exercise and some wonderful scenes along the way. If you are looking for great walking trails, the answer may be found in these series of paved trails throughout Warwick Township. We began our walk and talk session at the Warwick Township Building. There is ample parking and an automatic light ensuring safety crossing the main road into the trail system. The exercise was wonderful, but even more importantly we had a great time to talk. The buzz around town has been that Lady Gaga was in Lancaster over the weekend. For most of the Lancaster natives, this will mean nothing. Most Mennonites and Amish in Lancaster will not even know who Lady Gaga is. However, anyone slightly familiar with pop culture will recognize the name Lady Gaga. It seems that Lady Gaga is now dating a Lancaster native, Taylor Kinney. Kinney's grandmother died and he was back for the funeral. Okay, I am a little biased, but I believe that Wilbur Chocolate is the best in the world! My favorite item produced by Wilbur Chocolate is Wilbur Buds! These bite size items come in both semi-sweet and milk chocolate. I believe you will agree with me when you pop a Wilbur Bud in your mouth and allow it to melt, savoring the taste, and experiencing the ecstacy! Wilbur Chocolate traces its roots back to 1884 and prior, but it did not begin in Lititz, PA. H.O. Wilbur was operating a hardware and stove business in New Jersey when he went into the confectionary business. It seemed to offer more opportunity. The Wilbur Bud was introduced in 1894. The business thrived, had various partnerships. I travel through this bridge on a regular basis to get to a great market center. It is a place where my wife and I shop regularly. It is Hoovers Farm Market. They sell great produce which they grow right there on their farm. It is locally produced and locally sold. Below see one of the fields in which the produce is grown. They have a very attractive market stand where you choose your produce and pay for it. A unique feature for a farm market in Lancaster County is that they accept credit cards. Warwick Boys Soccer played Lancaster Mennonite at the LM field on Saturday night. It was a beautiful night for soccer under the lights in Lancaster, PA. This well played game was exciting and displayed the skills of both teams. Lancaster Mennonite got on the board first. However, Warwick countered with the next three goals. Mennonite scored the final goal, but could not garner another one to tie the game. Warwick wins the game 3-2. Enjoy exciting high school soccer by coming out to games by either of these teams. We all love food. We have to eat some each day in order to maintain some level of health and energy. This was my meal at lunch today. Very easy to make and semi-healthy. We use ground beef and add taco seasoning. One of the most satisfying aspects to this meal was the tomatoes. We produced them right here on the property. The stakes have given way, but still the production has been great. Here are a few picked tomatoes. We do not get store quality, but are able to trim them to gain the benefit of the best meat of this tomato. Let's sit down and eat together. I regularly shop at Bomberger’s in Lititz, PA. I stop at this store for hardware items, to dream about a new kitchen, buy some paint or rent equipment. Tonight I stopped to have my gas grill tank filled with propane. The customer service is excellent. Employees seek customers out to see if they need assistance. They are friendly and serve with a smile on their faces. Residents in Litiz, PA know the value of this excellent, service oriented, customer friendly store to our local economy. One cannot help but find the covered bridges of Lancaster County, PA part of the tranquil experience in Lancaster Living. There are 29 covered bridges in the county. This makes it the number one county in Pennsylvania for covered bridges and second in the nation to Parkes County, Indiana. Many of these bridges are passable by car, but limited to one lane. This is Zook's Mill Covered Bridge, located within two miles of my home. It is typical of most of the covered bridges in Lancaster county. It is made of the Burch Arch Truss design and can be seen in the picture below. Most early bridges were constructed of wood because it was easily accessible and affordable.
