Most people do not know that famed candymaker, Frank C. Mars, moved to Tennessee in the early 1930's and acquired approximately 2,800 rolling acres. There Mr. Mars employed over 900 people in Giles County during the Great Depression and built Milky Way Farms. Many worked and lived on the farm to construct a 25,000 square foot home with 21 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, 70 cottages, 30 barns and over 35 miles of fence (much of it stone) around the property.
