This afternoon, I had the absolute joy of meeting the newest member of my son’s family, sweet little “June Carter!” She’s an 8-week-old white lab who has already stolen everyone's heart (mine included!). Their journey to find her is a story in itself, they initially missed out on a litter because there were only three females, and they were fourth in line. But leave it to resourceful Beckett to save the day! She found a wonderful breeder in San Antonio, and just like that, June Carter came home on Thursday!June is settling in beautifully, she’s sleeping through the night, getting into a good routine with her meals, and even letting everyone know when she needs to go outside. Smart girl!Hudson and Beckett are doing an amazing job sharing responsibilities, and there’s certainly no shortag...

Photo Journalism - Saving the Easter Bunny A long time ago, and several days (or weeks) before Easter Sunday, my children (both very young at the time) found three baby bunnies in the grass. Two were dead and one was alive. We looked all around and did not see the mother. So, we sat on the stoop waiting to see if the mother rabbit (or hare) would hop on by. When that did not happen, I carefully picked up the one that was still breathing. Then I wrapped in in a cloth baby diaper. While I was making the call, my kids were talking so sweetly to the baby bunny, telling the bunny, it would be okay.I was told it is very difficult to save a wild baby bunny but the person from the Farm and Animal Rescue Center gave me some instructions. Other than using an eye dropper to feed the bunny, and pre...

Last fall, on September 24, 2024, a dear friend gifted me a brown paper bag filled with dried seed pods from her vibrant Pride of Barbados plant. I was surprised to learn that propagating this stunning plant could be as simple as collecting its pods, storing them over winter, and planting the seeds come spring. I wrote a post last fall and here it is already spring! I opened the bag to discover the seeds nestled within the pods. Following advice from fellow gardeners, I soaked the seeds overnight in warm water to soften their hard outer shells, a step known to enhance germination rates. After soaking, I planted them just beneath the surface of well-draining potting soil, ensuring the soil remained moist but not soggy. I've placed the pot in a sunny spot and will be misting the soil re...

Do Buyers even consider what children want? Think about your earliest childhood experiences. What was most important to you. Was it playing with kids your own age? Your experiences in nature? Climbing trees? Picking or planting flowers? Building sandcastles? Playing on the swing sets? Going to the park; perhaps a family picnic in the woods? Learning to play baseball, soccer, badminton, hopscotch, basketball, jump rope, ride bicycles, roller skate, or just running around on an open field?   Do kids love water? A sprinkler could be the next best thing on a hot summer day. Or perhaps having a water balloon fight with family or friends. Playing with bubbles?  Giving the dog a bath outdoors. Water Parks can be fun, but not if you're a kid who has to stand in line and wait their turn. HOA com...
