About a month ago one of the agents in our office brought in a rescue dog she had found on the streets of Bastrop.  From my office I could hear her and other Agents talking about how cute he was. I was busy so no motiviation to get up to go and see. She said she couldn't keep him as she and her husband had just rescued another dog weeks earlier that was not so friedly and might hurt this dog. Still no motivation to get up and go see the dog as my husband had put a cap on number of animals that "we" could have and I was at that limit! Then I heard one of them comment on how frail he was. Again, not enough to motivate me to get out from behind my desk as I knew that any one of the Agents out there would make sure that the dog was well cared for. But then I heard...." poor thing so tiny an...

Here at the Bastrop office of Stanberry & Associates we all pitch in to a "kitty" each month so that we can make modest donations to worthy local causes and charities.  It is just one small way that as local Realtors we can let Bastrop County know that we care and give back. This month we donated 150.00 to the Bastrop Library.  Although the donation wasn't a big one we were told that the monies would be spend replacing all of the lost books  - books that had been checked out - in last year's devestating Bastrop Complex Fire.  As a local Bastrop Realtor I am glad that we help in small ways!

If you drive south on Highway 304 from Highway 71 in Bastrop just a few miles out of town on your left you will see the new subdivision called Cassena Ranch.  Even if  you don't see the signs you won't miss the beautiful red rock entry!   Highlights of the subdivision are paved roads, utlities at the street, acre plus lots. With 36 total lots this is not a big sudivision.  The focus will be quality and not quantity in this restricted subdivision.  Spec homes are rising up off of the cleared building pads by David Weekly, Christopher David and Vince Kaiser just to mention a few.  If you would like more information on available lots or spec homes please contact me directly at 512-743-0516.

The Pine Forest subdivision just outside of Bastrop Texas was one of the many areas that was hit hard in the Bastrop Complex fire that happened Labor Day of 2011.  The Pine Forest  community along with others are in recovery.  Land where homes once stood is being cleared of standing dead wood, foundations that were damaged are being removed.  New construction is happening to rebuild the homes that were lost.  Some of the people who lost everything are not going to rebuild  and some of those lots that have been put up for sale have already sold with the existing water &  electric service and sometimes even septic and foundations if not damaged in the fire which lends itself to being a nice package for new home builds.  It has not been quite a year yet but so much work has gone in to reco...

One of the things that I love about this area of Central Texas, here in Bastrop, is the stunning sunsets we get almost every evening.  These pictures were taken just last week from my horse ranch down along the Colorado River between Bastrop and Smithville from my back patio.  Each sunset is so very different! Just had to share them.

Bastrop Texas has a long and varied history.     In the very early 1800's  the Spanish established a fort where the  "Kings Highway"  crossed the Colorado River on it's way to Louisiana to the east and Mexico to the south.  Bastrop's existence was fortified by the river, the road of commerce, it's fertile soils, and the loblolly pines.  The town of Bastrop was platted in the mid 1800's.  The rolling pastures, fertile soils, and pines in the area appealed to settlers. Large farms and ranches were established.  Cotton and lumber were a consistent form of commerce for many years. Today Bastrop is a great mix of new and old.     Along Highway 71 ( a part of the old "Kings Highway"  )  the  conveniences of many nationally known box stores, restaurants, and hotels have sprung up.  The recent ...

I recently drove through Riverside Grove here in Bastrop County  Texas  to preview a listed property for one of my Clients and I took a few extra minutes to take some pictures of the subdivsion which I put in to a short video presentation of the area and homes in Riverside Grove.  Some of the highlights of the area are two schools within a very short walking  distance.  The subdivision has an active homeowners association and light covenants.  If you would like more information on buying, selling, or leasing in this subdivision please contact me.

Riverside Grove is a nice subdivision centrally in Bastrop.  One of the benefits of living in the subdivision is that  it is within walking distrance from two Bastrop ISD schools.  The subdivision has single and two story homes on lots, the roads are paved with sidewalks and curbs.  There is an active homeowners association.  On my Riverside Grove page on my website you can search for homes for sale.  If you have a home in Bastrop that you would like to list or sell or if you are interested in leasing or purchasing a home visit my website and contact me.  I would love to help you.

Bastrop Texas is one of the Distinctive Destinations for historic and vintage homes with over 100 homes and buildings.  Bastrop is proud of it's history and heritage and during the holidays in the past the Bastrop Historical society has put together a  Holiday Homes tour which is a great opportunity to see these period homes in their holiday's finest.   There is a downtown area with historic buildings that falls in between Walnut, Spring, Water, and Church Streets,  Many of the historic homes are located on Main, Pecan, Church, and Chestnut Streets.  The Old Iron Bridge that crosses the Colorado and welcomes you into downtown Bastrop was added to the National Register of Historic places in 1990. You can see many styles of homes reflected in  Bastrop's historic district including   Greek...

Bastrop Texas has a wonderful historic district with beautiful old homes and old storefronts in the downtown area as do most of the smaller Central Texas towns.  The area was first settled in the early 1800's.  The town of Bastrop is nestled along the Colorado River approximately 35 miles southeast of Austin.  If you are looking for a Historic Home for sale  in Bastrop Texas or surrounding areas please contact me.

Colo Vista was once a private estate located in the pines a few miles outside of Bastrop Texas.   The highlight of this Central Texas estate was it's 15,000 sq. ft. greek revival residence that had a 22 ft. ceiling, marble floors, and Waterford Crystal chandeliers.   Subdivided the residence and approx. 10 acres became a beautiful club house for the Colo Vista Golf Course.  Lots were platted and sold along the course. About a year ago the Golf Course operations shut down and the Clubhouse, golf course, and remaining undeveloped lots went on the market.  The golf course is being maintained as a " green space" but no access or use. The hope is that the country club will be purchased and reopened as it really is one of the best kept secrets in Central Texas.   Homes  in the Colo Vista subd...
