Lake Thunderbird is a small lake community about 7 miles outside of Smithville Texas, approx. 45 minutes from Austin, 2 hours to San Antonio or the Coast.  Lake Thunderbird offers rrelaxed country living with light covenants, volunteer fire department, play ground, and local general store.  This is one of three lake communities in Bastrop County. Lake Thunderbird is a subdivision built around a private community lake located approx. 8 miles outside of Smithville Texas.  Highlights of this subdivision are the paved roads, lake access, community center, playground, pool.  This is a perfect place for a summer vacation home as it has great access from the Austin, Houston, and San Antonio areas.  There is even a convenience store right at the entry for those last minute items you might forget to pick up as you are heading home, or for some worms or hooks if you need some fishing supplies.  Information on Lake Thunderbird in Smithville Texas 12/23/2008
