Avoid getting carried away with hyperbolic extravagance. Professionals have responsibilities to buyers and sellers to be knowledgeable about the local market, to convey accurate information so an informed decision can be made. Some prefer to show off their creative writing skills. Excessive, over-embellished descriptions have no place in the real estate industry. Hyperbolic extravagance, it seems, has taken the place of a straight forward approach for those looking to gain consumer interest. Professional photos and clear, apt descriptions will garner the right attention rather than questions or misunderstandings once a property has been seen in person. Being concise really matters in real estate and with proper marketing and advertising, a home can be seen in its best light. There is no...

Review of the Jolie Gentil Cozy Series - Elaine L. Orr  Occasionally, I look for a lighter mystery book series to read at night before falling asleep. This one satisfies that plus gives a good look into the real estate appraisal industry as well.   Jolie Gentil (means 'pretty nice' in French and pronounced with a soft J and G), needs to get away from her ex-husband Robby who has a severe gambling problem, he embezzled funds from his bank and wiped out both their accounts .  She moves to the Jersey shore and Great Aunt Madge's Cozy Corner Bed & Breakfast with her cat Jazz and joining Madge's pair of prune-eating dogs, Mister Rogers and Miss Piggy.  Shortly after arriving in Ocean Valley, she meets the thug sent by an angry loan shark, who attempts to frighten her into paying her husband'...

a mile wide radius  Most agents who have been in the industry for some time can sense when a potential client is being disingenuous.  That's why it's important to qualify before  setting out to look at properties and to get everything in writing.   As a veteran Realtor with a straight forward approach, many people have come and gone with much success.  Of course, I quickly saw through a few who wanted to be chauffeured around, much like a tour-for-the-day guide.  Not happening here. Time is most valuable and once spent, irretrievable. I'll take a mile wide radius around people like that.  Thankful to continue loyal relationships with those who respect the process and put trust in me to achieve their goals.  Happy sales all!

Can I Hold You?  One of my most embarrassing moments in real estate was when I tried to put a potential buyer on hold to look up some information...  A bit nervous, wanting to impress him, instead of asking, "Can I put you on hold?", I blurted out, "Can I hold you?"  He said, "But I don't even know you!"  We both busted out laughing...LOL  Thankfully, some clients possess a fun sense of humor - those are my people and I will surely hold onto them!  Do you have a funny story to share when first starting out in the real estate industry?

A Modern Day Mensch Integrity, honor and transparency plays a huge role in business success. The amount of effort put towards a list of priorities is often proportional to the return one receives. Successful relationships, whether personal or professional, depend on reciprocation and are about making people feel valued while treating them with utmost respect and care. Every day upon waking, the decision is made to do something nice for someone and perhaps make a positive difference in their day. So far, so good, I have achieved that. Did I mention that today I will be out visiting with a few clients who are also  mensch's? Many people who enjoy each other's company often share that trait. Happy day all! Mensch -  Yiddish word that means "decent human being."

Nerdin Gardens: Dog Vomit Slime Mold...🤢 Sounds pretty gross, right?  The visual is even less appealing than the descriptive name. It looks like dog gak and often shows up after long periods of rain or as a result of excessive watering. The mold thrives in shady areas, especially in bark mulch, grass clippings and dead leaves. It is a gelatinous, lumpy, yellow to white growth that is harmless to humans. Spread by the wind, the unsightly presence is easily removed by raking gently to prevent the spores from becoming airborn. Then dump into the garbage bin. Be careful where you step after a good drenching or you might get Dog Vomit Slime Mold on your shoe...Ewwww! 🤢  Industry tie in: When something unexpected shows up, figure out a way to remediate and move forward with confidence.

A reason. A season. Or life.   As the car pulls from the curb, seven+ years of memories invade my mind, tugging at the heart in an effort to extricate them from the extreme grief.   Today, little Rugerman, his mom, sister and brother will be driving to Iowa, their next place of residence.   Again, I say goodbye with a heaviness that might lighten upon his return. In the meantime, the soul well has become empty, in dire need of full-filling.   They say that people come into your life for a reason, a season or life. It is up to us as individuals to gleam the lessons gained or taught from each and every one.   With Ruger, I was there to witness his first breath of life. Through the years, he taught us to be present, happier, to allow true joy into our lives and to forgive easily.   Family...

Kibitzed with clients lately? Excellent communication is good for business relationships and can encourage successful outcomes. Picking up the phone and making the call or visiting in person shows sincerity. Following through quickly when I agree to do something for clients is just as important. If something keeps me accomplishing that, I relay that as soon as possible as well.  At this point in my career, more than 85% of business is referral based. Past clients refer me to friends and family members due to an established trust relationship. The work pipeline continues to grow as buyers wish to make southern Utah their final destination or sellers move on for reasons of their own. Kibitzing with past clients means being the agent to call for future business. Recently, an offer was acce...

Nerdin Gardens: Edible Art When picking a day's harvest in our back yard garden, the imagination is sparked by nature's shapes, sizes and colors. Many times, images emerge from the result. The level of whimsicality depends on mood and mindset! On this day, I was feeling a little spicy and homemade salsa came to mind as I created this edible arrangement.  Walking the garden while harvesting 6 varieties of tomatoes, I realized at that moment that All Maters Matter!  Spending time in the garden is relaxing and quite often brings about a joyous imagination. This one is called Crazy Veggie Lady!  During the growing season the imagination is tickled, our bodies nourished, not to mention it's also food for the soul!  Thanks for stopping by and I made you...

It's Official! Firstday has Replaced Thursday. While Face-timing Little Miss Independent aka Kenslee Mae, (our just turned) 4-year old Gbaby girl, I asked when she was going to make a visit to come to see me and Popop. She replied, "On Firstday." I asked, "On Thursday?" She said, "No Gma, it's Firstday!" Firstday it is and I am so happy that her cute family will be here soon to make some lasting memories. Popop is excited to hold Baby Kodah, her little brother for the first time. Happy Monday all...I may start calling it Moneyday...what do you think?

Enjoy getting sauced! One of the benefits of having a backyard garden, is the ability to pick a diverse selection of vegetables every day during the growing season. You can’t get any fresher than that!  This simple tomato sauce recipe has only seven ingredients and can be used in dishes such as spaghetti and meatballs, bruschetta, goulash, and many other Italian-style dishes.  Preparation: 20 MinutesFirst, you take the Roma tomatoes, score the bottom of each one with a sharp knife and toss in to boiling water for 30 seconds. This will allow for easy peeling. Drain. Put them into a bowl and cover completely with ice to stop the cooking process quickly. Peel, cut oblong and remove all seeds. You will then chop them coarsely.  Peel large white onion and chop coarsely, put into a large, hot ...
