Nerdin Gardens: Nature's Sincere Gifts What do you give someone who has everything? Well, now that growing season is upon us, a tasty treat from Nerdin Gardens hits on all marks! Prior to meeting with clients on a listing, I visited the raised beds. There, under the greenery of the leaves, sat about a dozen red, juicy strawberries just daring to be chosen and I picked every single one. Popping one in my mouth, it sang the sweetest tune on the tongue! After arriving at their house, I presented the bag to the owners and their faces lit up with gratitude. Who knew such a small gesture would make that big an impact? To be continued through the fall months... Wanda Kubat-Nerdin in Nerdin Gardens

Nerdin Gardens: A Symphony of Happiness "Earth laughs in flowers"~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Spring is evident as I see these fluffy buds bursting out all over this fruitless plum tree. They spring to life, bringing subtle beauty and color to every passerby. And if Ralph Waldo Emerson is correct, this tree is a symphony of happiness, spreading good cheer to those who take notice! Happy Saturday to you all.

That wonderful wascally Easter wabbit! In an effort to close the geological gap that physically separates us from our children and grand babies, the Easter Bunny devised a family plan. He'd visit us in the back yard and we'd FaceTime everyone. It worked out beautifully! No terrified faces, sudden uncontrollable crying, though one child did say he was a bit creepy! Happy Easter to all who recognize the day. May you always be surrounded by loved ones.

Nerdin Gardens: Grounds Maintenance Supervisor  At the first sign of spring, the black shade cloth is rolled off the raised garden beds. All watering emitter-systems are removed, then the earth is tilled, turning the soil thoroughly, removing dead roots and inorganic material. Next step is to amend by adding fertilizer to the already rich, black soil. One by one, each plant is placed in a predetermined spot to ensure optimum growth. New emitters placed near each one for adequate watering.  As soon as blooms appear, the bee hive just outside the perimeter fence will serve to pollinate every single one and perhaps be other winged creatures that visit the backyard gardens, looking to get their fair share of pollen. This year, due to inflation, we will can more fruits and vegetable than eve...

Nerdin Gardens: Last, Bud Not Least Spring has arrived to the southern Utah area. The peach, pear, plot, apricots, almond and plum trees in the orchard are blossoming out in pink and white blooms, proudly showing off their clustered flowers. Oh, but wait now...As I walk up to the the two cherry trees, I notice they are a little late to the blooming party, they may be last, bud not least! Garden Trivia:Did you know that sweet cherry trees require a male and female tree to pollinate in order to produce fruit? Sour cherry trees are self-pollinators and do not need more than one tree to produce the fruit. Happy gardening all!

Nerdin Gardens: Growing Pains Most people enjoy having fresh fruits and vegetables within easy reach without the required work in growing them. Shopping at the local grocery store or farmer's market can easily achieve that desire. For us, maintaining a healthy garden space means manually pulling weeds, ridding pests naturally, encouraging full potential growth through measured means like consistent watering and fertilization. Successful gardening can be achieved by: Showing up Being proactive Paying close attention  Self-motivating practices Finding solutions to problem   Jumping in with enthusiasm by showing up every day and the less effort required. Leave for a few days and come home to overgrown weeds, rot or worse, the systems can fail, resulting in dead plant material. Like life, g...

Nerdin Gardens: A Wave of Happy Daffodils! A small cluster of Daffodils were flowering at the end of the long driveway, making quite an impression with all who passed by. Smiling, I strolled up to them, taking a few photo's of the bright yellow blooms. A gust of wind buffeted suddenly. Glancing over at them and what did I see? A few flowering beauties waving back at me! Real estate industry tie-in: An honest approach to attracting business may be well received, especially when sincere.

Nerdin Gardens: The Artichoke plant adds ornamental beauty to any landscape. My husband, a master gardener, often adds pops of color, interest and depth to any outside area. Knowing by instinct, the conditions and care that plant material needs to thrive, is pertinent to his continued success.  Artichokes grow best in sunny areas, can tolerate some shade, but the flower buds will be stunted. Fertile soil and good drainage guarantees adequate growth. The life span of the artichoke is 3 to 5 years. They need plenty of room to stretch out in garden spaces but require little attention, other than watching for aphids.  They love them. Ladybugs, in turn enjoy eating those little, sap-feeding insects.  These plants grow up to four feet tall with a six feet diameter, the buds are harvested once...

Like seeds in a garden, sowing love matters. A grandchild's giggle brings a smile. Knowing our children are successfully making their way in to the world warms the heart. My steadfast husband and life partner makes me laugh over a silly Valentine's Day card because we share the same humor...priceless. I am indeed blessed and sowing the seeds of love trumps all else in my life. Soon Nerdin Gardens will come alive again...thinking Spring. Happy Valentine's Day all, may you be surrounded in love, always!

That's Pure Propagation! My mother loved indoor plants, nurturing several varieties throughout the house, from Rubber trees, Philodendrons (aka elephant ears), Money plants, Spider plants, Dracaena to luscious, green Boston ferns. She had a natural ability to take parts of plants that were weak or broken and place the stems in water to grow a new root system. She was always successful in her efforts and I was very fascinated by this!   Quite often there were multiple glass containers on window sills with plants in different stages of growth. She knew exactly when they were ready to re-plant in the perfect mixture of dirt and potting soil. She was a pure propagator and probably didn't know there was a term for her methods. Which reminds me of this quote: An idea needs propagation as much...

Nerdin Gardens: Modern Day Mr. Green Jeans When early Spring makes a showing, my husband, affectionately known as Mr. Green Greens, will begin the first stages in planting the garden, like: Tilling, feeding the soil, ensuring systems are in good working order. A diverse selection of fruits and vegetables are planned once again. Each year, we save quite a bit of money on fresh produce and every growing season, a renewed excitement begins, along with required hard work.  No time for lazy standards! Mr. Green Jeans and I often meet in the garden to decide on which fruits and vegetables will serve us well. All raised beds will be utilized, plantings determine watering schedules. The secrets of successful gardening are simple, it takes: passion knowledge sincere care maintenance intentional ...

Vacant Condo for Sale - Multiple Offers Expected! Southern Utah is experiencing an all-time low in available listings. Residential properties that are priced well, in great condition and located in desirable areas go quickly. This one is no exception! At first, we were hesitant to put this special property on the market for sentimental reasons but decided it was for the best. Besides, it's smart to take advantage of an up-market like everyone else! What I love about this ranch-style home:The exterior is alluring, captivating, striking, bright green and white detailing. Though a family of swine lived here previously, the interior is pristine, refreshing, must-see, breathtaking, a one-of-a-kind.  This storybook setting can be your happily ever after!
