Nerdin Gardens: The Mantis and a Fly.  One bright, early summer morn in Nerdin Gardens, a young fly was afixed to a wall. Rather than forage, he intently watched the lively comings and goings of bees, butterflies and birds. Ambitious ants also bustled about on the ground below in the warm sunshine, traveling to and fro, looking for new food sources to feed the colony. Yet, the fly remained in place. A Mantis perched upon a bright orange Marigold blossom nearby, closely observing the fly's position. He asked, "Little fly, why remain stationary, instead of scavenging like the other insects?" The fly replied, "I am terrified to take flight. Another creature may devour me and my life would be over, like that!" Nerdin Gardens: 2♡2♡ is Not Hindsight Looking Forward!  We are beginning to see the results of all the cultivating, tilling and careful planting that has carefully been implemented. So far we have picked a few strawberries, the pumpkins and watermelon seedlings are sprouting.  The tomatoes and peppers are heavily laden with blooms awaiting pollination from our friendly honey and bumble bees. The Neighbors Were Absolute Pigs!  Home ownership is an opportunity afforded to all who qualify and part of living the American Dream. Bacon and Miss Prissy had outgrown their house after their 7 piglets were adopted out and needed a new place.  My husband and boys got to work, installing a cedar picket fence and built the structure that would serve as their shelter. They were able to live out their days lounging about, eating and sleeping for the most part! What a life well spent for both. Say what? Kumquat!  We live in the high desert of southern Utah, where citrus trees are not conducive to thriving when planted in the ground. Ours are in large clay pots. We are able to grow them successfully by adapting their surroundings during winter months, transporting them into an outbuilding for protection from the elements. Once Spring arrives, we relocate them to a sunny place where they will flourish the rest of the growing season, the results are beautiful fruits such as lemons, limes and kumquats for us to enjoy. Going BIG Gma! While on the trampoline, my 2-year old Gbaby girl, after several days of diligent practice finally got the concept of jumping. I can honestly say, it was remarkable in every way!  We can all take note from nature by offering our best selves up every day, come what may.
