"Stonewall" Jackson on his 185th birthday.  Wednesday January 21,2009.   Lexington, Virginia The Stonewall Jackson House will be offering free tours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the hour and half hour. Lexington History Lesson  Lexington, VA was founded in 1777, we are the second oldest Lexington in the nation, having been named after Lexington Mass. Where the first battle of the American Revolution began. Rich in history & tradition, The local walking tour of Lexington offers the visitor a small glimpse of what locals and the newly relocated have discovered for themselves. There is much to see and do. The Stonewalls Jackson House, was the only home that General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson ever owned. Built in 1800. Jackson and his second wife Mary Anna lived in the house from 1859 till 1861 when he departed for the civil war.
