Speechless Sunday - Mt. Hood From Goldendale, Washington A couple weeks ago, Mel took this photo of the view of Mt. Hood from a client's land, The Dandy Valley Farms & Nursery, in Goldendale, Washington. Goldendale is about 45 minutes northeast of Hood River and across the Columbia River, in the heart of Washington's farming country.

Friday's Foto - Relaxation Courtesy John Deere Last weekend, our son, Sam, took a break from walking the land under the hot sun on a conveniently placed John Deere tractor. He and Mel were in Goldendale, Washington (50 miles northeast of Hood River) photographing the Dandy Valley Nursery and Farms, a new listing.

Speechless Sunday - A Baby Deer at Dandy Valley Nursery Mel was at a client's place in Goldendale on Saturday. The client has some land for sale (10 Acres, another 10 acres, 20 acres) and now he's decided to sell his business, too, which is named the Dandy Valley Nursery (we'll be blogging about that new listing in a couple days). So while Mel was photographing the property, he realized he was being watched and he took this adorable photo.

How to Tell a Buyer About that Elusive "Quiet Time" Between Pending and Closing You know the quiet time I mean, right? That time after the inspection has been satisfied and escrow calls for signing? That time that can last anywhere from a week to a month? Maybe more depending on the transaction. If you're like me, you have had those clients that call every day or two to find out what's going on now. Those clients that can't stand to be kept in the dark for more than 5 minutes. This is especially true when we're talking first time buyers or sellers. If they have never been through the process or if it's been a while, you might get those calls every day with some random question about the deal. But that quiet time just after the inspection can be the toughest. There is typically about 2 ...

Hi all: Yesterday my wife and I passed through Maryhill, Washington on our way home. Home to the famous Maryhill Museum, we were blown away by the art that had been collected there. Maryhill Museum was first built as a private residence by Samuel Hill, who was an attorney for the great Northern Railway. Samuel Hill married Henry Hill's daughter, Mary, and worked for the railway before embarking on his own projects including but not limited to the Columbia Gorge highway and the Blaine, WA. peace arch. Unfrotunately, Sam Hill's wife never warmed to wanting to live at their home. After his idea of a utopian like city of Maryhill fell through, Sam thought about abandoning and selling his home until a good friend of his, a French dancer named Loie, convinced Sam to turn his home into a museu...

The Stonehenge Memorial near Maryhill Museum of Art will be the site of ongoing acoustic studies by British researcher Dr. Rupert Till from the University of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.  On Saturday, July 5 at 3 p.m. Dr. Till will present an hour-long program about Stonehenge, recent discoveries and his work on the Neolithic Stonehenge in England. Till and his colleague Dr. Bruno Fazenda are visiting Maryhill in the hopes that they can learn something about how sound was used at Stonehenge. While Till has studied the Neolithic site in England, he has found that the state of the ancient monument makes it much more difficult to do sound studies. He needed a full size model of the site.  And that is how Stonehenge Memorial becomes important to Till. "By coming to Maryhill Museum of Art...

On our way home from Wind Surfers Paradise, Hood River Oregon, we headed east and stopped at the Mary Hill Winery south-west of Goldendale Washington.  They have a great tasting room with lots of gift items, a wonderful lattice covered patio with grape and flower vines, and a large amphitheatre overlooking the Columbia River.  We tasted some of the best wines and purchased 6 bottles of various blends and vintages.Photo is only a part of the vineyard and a view of the Columbia River with Washington on the left and Oregon on the right.
