The work week has started for many with great or not so great anticipation as to how the week will unfold.Do you know the word origin of this word? Again, like many other words in the English language, this word has Latin roots and literally means:Taking into possession beforehandThink about that for a moment. What will motivate you to take possession of before you receive it?  By this original definition, anticipation is truly a positive word as few people want to take possession beforehand of any negative actions or results.Maybe this song may take you back or propel you forward?Feature Photo of Sun Rising Over the Hualapais Mountains Mohave County, Golden Valley, AZ Courtesy of Leanne M Smith taken at 7:30am on 2/5/2024Any reproduction of Leanne M Smith’s blog for use by any AI or GA...

We can always learn from others here in the Rain and Kathy is a great blogger to learn from.  It’s Not Enough to Keep Your Eye on the Ball- Sometimes You Have to Reevaluate Your Direction! In our personal life and in business, it’s not enough to keep your eye on the ball...sometimes you have to step back and reevaluate your direction.   I was at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships today and since I’m not a tennis player or even casual observer, I watched everything going on except for the match itself. The first match was a men’s double.  I noticed that after almost every serve, the two players on the serving side would meet, their backs to their opponents, and  I’m speculating that they discussed plans for the next serve.    Isn’t that so much like our own lives and wor...

Today is a quiet Sunday, with gentle rain and a serene sense of calm. As I was catching up on my reading, this song started playing in the background. The Tax Man song by the Beatles.Yes, it is that time of year again for us as real estate agents who are also independent contractors as well as small business owners, to gather all those income statements,  receipts for submission to our local accountant and eventually to the IRS. After hearing this song on the SirusXm, I looked up the original lyrics.  The first verse made me chuckle, as I wish it would be just 5%.Should five percent appear too smallBe thankful I don't take it all'Cause I'm the taxmanYeah, I'm the taxman Verse two seems also very real as we are taxed on everything often several times.I'll tax the street(If you try to sit...

Grant Schneider came up with some great blogs when he was with us.  Here is one of them.  Clara Peller made this title a famous catch phrase when she contrasted the large bun competition to a Wendy's large beef burger.  Could that phrase apply to your leadership?  Could your leadership be all show and fluff with no beef?  In other words are you talking the talk but not walking the walk? You may be practicing all the right management and leadership styles but the big beef is in the RESULTS. If you start by defining the results needed or the goals you wish to accomplish you can then grow the people and processes to ensure those results! This common sense leadership style is called the Result-Based Model of Leadership. Here is an example of how you can align your entire team to your goals....

Being in the real estate business,  you already know that it's not just about selling a property; it's also about building strong relationships with your clients. One of the most important things you can do is to keep them informed and updated throughout the process. Let's face it: nobody likes to be left in the dark, especially regarding something as important as selling a property. Keep in touch regularly and provide timely updates. It's not just about making a sale; it's about making sure they know you care. Remember, selling a property can be a stressful experience for your clients, and it's important to understand their situation. A simple phone call or email can go a long way in building trust and maintaining a positive relationship.  So, remember that communication is the key to ...

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut in life, doing the same thing the same way. Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result. But if we are going to live our best, we should constantly be growing and sharpening our skills. We should strive to learn and grow every single day because when you stop learning, you stop growing, and when you stop growing you stop living. What are you doing to stretch yourself? What are you doing to improve your skills? Don’t get trapped into thinking that “good enough” is good enough. You are created for more than just average. Pursue what you love and keep developing that area of your life. Today is a new day, and there are new heights for you to climb. Stop doing things that don’t produce results an...

My Golf Journey to Date I won't say I'm addicted to golf, but I do know that I start to twitch, and my hands shake if I am away from it too long., as is the case for me this early in February. My wife says she has accepted her position as second love, and when we plan vacations will ask me if I have allowed for golf. My job before I got into real estate allowed me a lot of opportunities to play golf around the country, and I have walked some of the courses that people just dream of. For instance, I have played Pebble Beach, TPC Sawgrass, Congressional, Beth Page Black, Sea Pines Plantation, Doral, Kapalua, Kaanapali, just to drop a few names. My golf game, like so many, has had its ups and downs, but as I got closer to 50, I wanted to try my luck at getting on the Senior Golf tour. Whi...

(Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.)
"If you believe it, you can achieve it." In response to the February Challenge, hosted by Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! and Kathy Streib. I've put together a 2024 Vision Board. Since retiring in 2011, I've kind of wandered aimlessly through life.  It's morphed into a rather comfortable and content lifestyle for me.  I do have some goals for 2024. PURGE is my Word of the Year. Every year, I choose a Word, something I want to focus on specifically. I have a big house, and it's full of stuff accumulated over the last 53 years that I've lived in Wenatchee. When I moved to Wenatchee in the summer of 1971, my worldly possessions were contained in a 99# box that got off the Greyhound bus when I did. Oh, and I had $20 in my purse. Since then, I've probably accumulated 99,000 pounds of stuff (...

Whether you're facing challenges at work or seeking personal development, explore proven methods to boost your energy and reclaim your motivation.Have a super fantastic week!Joe Jackson, Realtor-KWCP So here’s a recap of yet another article on how we can motivate ourselves. Unlike some other articles, this one seems to provide some relevant data and practical methods to implement. But motivation, according to the article, isn’t a psychological trait or personality characteristic. We’re told it’s actually something we...
