Open houses have had mixed responses overall in my office.
In fact, most agents no longer pursue them in this market for fear that they do not have any "fast" response for a sale on the listing itself or they fear that they will not turn up future prospects. Some brokers don't like to do them either because it takes up alot of ad space with no clear indication of return. At 6 am this morning, approximately 400 teachers, parents and students drove to Ramapo Ridge Middle School and readied themselves for the trip ahead to Frost Valley, NY. Now seen as an annual right of passage, area 6 th graders weather a sleepliness night on Sunday anxious about their first trip away from home --- alone --- with 300 classmates & friends.

On September 15, 2007 a local teenager turned a sweet 16 event into her own personal food drive for area residents. Kira "W" (full name withheld), a junior at Mahwah High School, wanted to do more then celebrate her birthday. She wanted to give back to those around her that may be less fortunate.   Kira hand-made and mailed or hand delivered creative lolly-pop invitations that requested that all her guests bring a non-perishable food or personal care item to gain entrance to her birthday party.

I ran some numbers this afternoon that give a peek into the past 3 months arip, sales and under contract data in Mahwah. The active number shown...is one currently under attorney review. The actual number of active homes currently listed in Mahwah is 103. This chart give you an idea of what is arip, under contract and sold in the past 3 months ( from today ).
Things are fairly active for this time of year...hopefully, it picks up even more in September!

mahwah: Mahwah Marlins Swim Team --- County and League Champions - 08/29/07 03:24 AM

The Mahwah Marlins Swim Team recently placed 1st in the league  and sent 47 swimmers to the represent the swim team at the 48th Annual Swim County Championships. Over 36 swim clubs participate from all over Bergen County. The Marlins had over 45 swimmers on the team this year. This is the largest roster in team history. The team is coached by Marissa Cerami, Scott Reiners, Samantha Cerami and Jonathan Jaye.
The Mahwah dive team also finished with a first place trophy this year in the Super League Six.

The Mahwah Schools Foundation is a group of local citizens that volunteer to raise monies to help the public schools of Mahwah. This funding is used to support alternative programs that  support the schools educational goals.

This tactic should be part of the overall marketing strategy for your home and it should be included with a specific goal or purpose and most importantly, frequency of these events should be decided --- UPFRONT. A recent post by George Paindes, Esq., of Southborough, MA ( I wish I knew how to link here) inspired me to expand on the topic and my comments to him on his blog. Summers are historically slow here in Bergen County, New Jersey. While visiting LBI this past week, my husband and family did what we always do on vacation --- check out real estate! Sound familiar? Yes, of course, we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves.
