New Hampshire Bank-Owned HomesAre you a buyer looking to buy homes in the Portsmouth NH area?  Don't be afraid of bank-owned homes if you are!Bank-owned properties do usually come with some issues that a home owned by a home-owner might not necessarily have, but if you are working with an experienced REALTOR who knows the area you're looking to buy in, you can find some great buys on bank-owned properties.
I just recently closed on a bank-owned home here in the New Hampshire Seacoast, and the new owner got himself a great buy.  The property had been listed for $249,900, and … (14 comments)

new hampshire real estate: New Hampshire Bank-Owned Properties - What's For Sale and What To Be Aware Of - 03/30/08 12:38 AM
I wrote a post a little while back about buying bank-owned properties and the potential issues surrounding the purchases of bank-owned properties.  All are sold in 'as-is' condition, but 'as-is' can mean different things to different banks who own those properties.  And the majority of those bank-owned properties are typically in less-than-desireable condition most of the time.  Some look as though the owner took really good care of the property, and others look as though they were beat up really badly by the previous owners.
Potential buyers of bank-owned homes and condos really need to have their eyes wide-open when looking at … (26 comments)

new hampshire real estate: Thinking Of Selling? Consider a Pre-Inspection First - 03/09/08 11:38 AM
Are you a homeowner in the Portsmouth NH Seacoast real estate market?  Are you thinking about selling your home or condo?  If you are, I would encourage you to have home inspections done before putting your home on the market.
Why?  There are a number of good reasons to do so!
The first, and the most important ,reason is so you can know in advance what inspectors will be finding and telling your potential buyers.  Forewarned is forearmed, and in this case, that's a GREAT thing!  There is no perfect house, not even new construction, so just know right up front that a home inspector is going … (26 comments)

new hampshire real estate: The Rewards are Great and They're More Than Just Paychecks! - 02/27/08 11:49 AM
The rewards that most people think of when selling real estate  are the paychecks we receive when we have a successful closing.  What many who aren't in the real estate profession don't realize is that there are some wonderful intangible rewards we reap as well.
There are all the wonderful friendships that are made, the great joy of finding that perfect home for people, the sense of pride in helping first-time buyers into their first home that they may have thought to be unattainable, and so much else that just can't be measured in dollars and cents.
A while back, I worked with a wonderful … (31 comments)

new hampshire real estate: Buying Bank-Owned Properties - New Hampshire Maine Real Estate - 02/09/08 11:16 AM
Over the last few weeks, I've gotten a number of questions about buying New Hampshire bank-owned real estate because they have such great prices on them.  Potential buyers here in the Portsmouth area are drawn to the attractive prices of those properties, without realizing the probably issues with those types of properties.
Foreclosures, which are the same as bank-owned real estate, are also listed in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) as well.  Banks most often use agents to sell their properties, and those will also show up on the sites and the various MLS sites.   Here in New Hampshire and Maine, all of the … (22 comments)

new hampshire real estate: Real Estate is LOCAL! New Hampshire Real Estate Market 2007 - 01/05/08 12:11 PM

We all know that the real estate markets in many areas of the country have been less-than-hot over the last year and a half to two years.
In spite of that, there are also areas in the country that didn't see the turbulent ups and downs that many markets experienced.  The east and west coasts saw more of the swings than did the middle part of the country, and even within those areas, there were pockets that saw just the opposite.

And yet, in spite of real estate being very local, the media would have us all believe there is such a thing … (20 comments)

new hampshire real estate: New Hampshire and Fall Means A Great State Convention!! - 09/29/07 08:04 AM
Fall in New Hampshire means another of our awesome New Hampshire Association of REALTORS State Convention!  This year's convention was held at the Mount Washington Resort Hotel, up in Bretton Woods.
What a gorgeous place this is!

I LOVE our State Conventions and I LOVE the Mt. Washington Hotel!  This hotel is one of those grand old resort destination hotels from days gone by.
Families would come up for the whole summer, and never have to leave the hotel grounds as everything they'd need or want to do was right there, just waiting for them to take part.  It's pretty much still that … (29 comments)
