It was one of only two places in Florida to make Forbes/GreatSchools list. GreatSchools combined two databases that calibrate the results of varying state tests by national standards to come up with an absolute score for each city. It then graded them on a curve with the highest-ranking district, Falmouth, representing 100. Jacksonville, Florida Selected by Forbes Magazine as a Top Place to Retire in 2011. The April 11, 2011 edition of Forbes Magazine lists this year's top places to retire, Jacksonville, Florida was selected. The list is provided in alphabetical order, so some people thought Jacksonville came in at #7, but in reality, Forbes posted the top 16. It just goes to show what we in Northeast Florida already know, but it is nice to let the rest of the world know as well.
