There are many different ways that you can use your garage to be beneficial to you. I decided that since I was getting ready to finish my basement that I would hire a contractor to come in and install some shelving for me to store my extra "seasonal items" (like holiday decorations, beach things, baby stuff, etc). To help homeowners deal with large assessment increases (that were experienced during the boom years), Maryland State Law has established the Homestead Property Tax Credit. The Homestead Credit limits or caps the increase in taxable assessments each year to a fixed percentage. Every County and Municipality in Maryland is required to set a Homestead cap that limits taxable assessment increases to 10% or less each year. However, IMO (In My Opinion) it is not low enough considering the recent sales activity in my immediate neighborhood area. That is all it took for me to fill up my car the other day from being on EMPTY with the light on. How AWESOME IS THAT! I may be showing my age here, but I can't remember the last time that I could fill up my car for just about $20.00. I think it was when I was back in high school (I graduated HS in 1996) when it was $1.26 a gallon. It feels really good to actually be able to pay CASH again at the pump instead of using PLASTIC!
