my personal life: This one is for you Jeff - Louisville Cardinals - 02/18/07 06:03 AM
No team in the country had a better week than the Louisville Cardinals.  They started out the week firmly on the bubble.  They had some decent wins, but no signature wins.  That all changed, twice.
Monday night the Cards went in and beat, wait... dominated #5 Pittsburgh 66-53 on the road.  They controlled the game from the outset and the final score shows it to be much closer than it was.  As a matter of fact, Pitt's longest run of the night was a 7-0 run in the final 90 seconds to take the deficit from 20 to 13.
Yesterday the Cards … (3 comments)

my personal life: NCAA Working With the Media / Mock Bracket - 02/09/07 02:44 AM
Apparently in an effort to show the media just how difficult it really was to pick the field of 65, the NCAA selected twenty college basketball writers to participate in a mock selection with the same allotted time that they receive.  The media missed the deadline by 1-1/2 hours.  Pat Forde of ESPN wrote a really good article giving a new perspective on what actually goes on during Selection Sunday.  Andy Katz has one as well.
I tried to post a copy of their mock bracket, but couldn't figure it out.  You can access them on the College BB front page.

my personal life: Denny Crum Court is here... and rightfully so! - 01/30/07 03:35 AM
The University of Louisville did something the other day that many thought was overdue.  They announced that the court in Freedom Hall would be named after Hall-of-Famer and former Louisville coach Denny Crum.
Louisville is building a new downtown arena that it should be playing in by 2010 (the name will move to the new arena as well).  Tom Jurich was planning to wait until the new arena opened to give the dedication, but current coach Rick Pitino asked "Why wait?", so they aren't.  Pitino said "Denny Crum is Louisville basketball".  There couldn't have been a truer statement.
Denny Crum played basketball at … (4 comments)

my personal life: What the heck is everyone going to do today? - 01/28/07 01:11 AM
No football?  Please tell me it isn't true?  Unfortunately, we are to that time of year again, football is almost over.  One more game and then we have almost nine more months.  What will we do to pass the time.
We still have colloge basketball.  I have grown to become an avid footbal fan, but my first love will always be college hoops.  There is nothing else in sports quite like March Madness.
NBA Basketball?  It's OK, but I don't really pay that much attention until May and June.
MLB Baseball?  I played baseball for twelve years as a youngster and LOVE going to … (3 comments)

my personal life: Okoye is Old Enough! - 01/24/07 01:48 AM
It's no secret on here that I am a Louisville Cardinals fan.  The last four or five years have been really fun in large part because of our football team, who continues to improve.  One of the biggest, or should I say youngest, reasons for the improvement is Senior DT Amobi Okoye.
What a great story this young man has, and I do mean young.  Amobi Okoye is a 19 year old Senior Graduate with a Psycology Degree in hand. Before coming to UofL, Okoye played high school football in AL.  That is where his family moved to after coming from Nigeria.  … (7 comments)

my personal life: Even with the rain, it's a sunny day in Louisville! - 01/15/07 01:40 AM
This morning at 9 am Brian Brohm announced that he will NOT enter the NFL draft and will return to the University of Louisville for his senior season.
Brohm has thrown for 6,751 yards and 41 touchdowns in his first three years.  A lot of people considered him to be one of the top three QBs in college this year and he should be considered a serious Heisman cadidate this coming year.
Brian said he's "not ready to let that dream end."  Eric Crawford of the Courier Journal wrote a great article before the decision was announced.

my personal life: Louisville coach Bobby Petrino to take over Atlanta Falcons - 01/07/07 01:33 PM
ESPN is reporting that Bobby Petrino has accepted the head coaching position with the Atlanta Falcons.  It's reported that he has signed a 5-year $24 million deal.  Petrino and the Cardinals won the Orange Bowl last Tuesday.
I know one fan that has mixed emotions.  On one hand I'm disappointed, because no matter who Tom Jurich hires to replace Petrino, it will be hard to reproduce the 2nd ranked offense in the country.  BP's teams consistantly rank among the top five in total offense.
On the other hand, I can't be mad at a guy for bettering himself.  He will more than double … (1 comments)

my personal life: My BCS Bowl Game Predictions - Let's hear yours. - 01/01/07 06:46 AM
Michigan Wolverines vs. Southern California Trojans
This could be argued as the best matchup of all the bowls.  Both teams were very close to playing for the National Championship.  Some say that they may be disappointed, but I disagree.  THIS IS THE ROSE BOWL FOR GOODNESS SAKE!  Michigan defense just too much for SC.
Michigan 24 - Southern Cal 17

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Boise State Broncos
Boise St. is making there first BCS appearance this year with an undefeated regular season while the Sooners are one bad call away from being in the National Championship talks.  I think a lot of people won't give … (14 comments)

my personal life: No One Is Safe From The MEME! - 12/20/06 08:52 AM
Hello to all my new found friends from ActiveRain.  I've been tagged by Ginger & Roger Sala.  I've had a really good time reading everyone's MEMEs.  This was a great idea for letting people get to know each other and Become Involved in the ActiveRain Community.
So here goes.  Five things about me:
1.  I was on the Indiana High School Athletic Association State Runner-Up golf team in 1994.  I also went on to become an apprentice in the PGA of America's Golf Professional Training Program.
2. My cousin and I were both born on Christmas Eve of the same year two hours apart … (7 comments)

my personal life: Hello everyone! I'm new to the group. - 12/11/06 02:07 PM
This was definitely one group I had to belong to.  I have two boxers that help make my day a little less stressful.
First we our 2 1/2 yr old female Ali.   This is one of my favorite pictures of her.  She is VERY full of life.  She has more energy than our younger male.  Her mom has been trying to find her a "Drama Queen" t-shirt that will fit her.
We also have a 1 1/2 yr old male named Brodie.  Brodie is much more the lazy man's dog.  He LOVES to take naps.  Ali can usually get him going though. … (8 comments)
