Rumors, Gossip, and Nevada Real Estate Traveling East one year to show ranches, we fueled up in Austin, Nevada. On entering the gas station Jim heard the clerk say, "I don't want to hear that, I don't gossip." to which the speaker replied, "It's not gossip, it's just what's going on around town!" True story. What's going on around town certainly isn't always gossip and rumors, but often it is. Could it be that we are off to a great start? Something good happened yesterday at the office ... we were busy! Yep! January 2, 2009 was a busy day! Well ... OK ... not 2005 "BUSY" ; but, busier than we have been in quite some time. Regular people walking in the office to ask about real estate possiblities, other agents calling to set up showings of our listings, RE/MAX agents in their offices meeting buyers and sellers! Yeah! Real business going on! We definitely have a long way to go ... but this is a very good start! Experience (14 comments)

We haven't seen an offer ... should we advertise in California? We've heard this question many times over the years and our answer is still NO with much more emphasis. We have advertised in the L.A. Times, San Jose Mercury, Portland Oregonian, Sacramento Bee, Seattle Times, etc. over the years with the same results - it is very expensive and yields zero results. It is a natural thought that such advertising would pan out, after all those are large population bases that feed our market. The question becomes ... would you look in the Record Courier or the Nevada Appeal for (8 comments)

We're on the market but aren't getting showings ... where are the Buyers?Our initial response is to address your price ... are you priced right? That is elementary and essential. Assuming your price is right let's look at today's Buyers. Buyers today are very informed. They generally know the market, what is going on in the community, what is going on in the financial/lending world, and the many other factors that can affect market dynamics.
