a1a: Save The Mayport Ferry, Mayport, FL
- 02/28/12 07:45 PM
As I've recently posted (I think) the Jacksonville Port Authority has recently decided to cease funding the Mayport Ferry, which provides ferry service between the historic fishing village of Mayport, and connects one side of scenic A1A to the other via the ferry service. It may not be much shorter than driving from a time perspective (the ferry runs every 30 minutes from one side to the next), it certainly is more fun than the extra drive, and is scenic to say the least. It's my favorite way to get to Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach. The funding is to end (5 comments)
a1a: Playing Hooky!
- 10/15/10 01:25 AM
The weather is finally fabulous here in NE FL - believe it or not, hot, humid summers are really not that fun after the first 30-45 days, and this year's summer seemed to last forever! I played hooky with some friends of mine and headed down to Biketoberfest, in Daytona Beach. It was a nice sunny day as we rode down I-95, and stopped first at Bruce Rossmeyer's mega-complex.
After lunch at Houlagins, we ran down to downtown Main Street, and enjoyed some terrific people watching from Dirty Harry's.
Then we realized it was already time to head back (3 comments)
