After a four year break, during which the legality of red light cameras was debated in the courts, the city of Pembroke Pines, Fl. has decided to bring back the controversial safety measure. Beginning June 1, 2017, red light cameras will be activated at 7 city intersections. Drivers will be given warnings during the first 60 days the program is in place; then, starting August 1, 2017, $158 tickets for running red lights will be issued.
