questions: Crazy Calls in Real Estate - 08/05/18 06:21 PM
This Week's Craziness
You would think after being in real estate for over 30 years you would have had heard everything and nothing would surprise you. Of course that is not the case so I wanted to share a few of this past week's conversations and questions that made me scratch my head.
Buyer calls in and says can you tell me how much this house is? I ask what the address is and he asks his lady friend in the car with him what the address is. She doesn't know either. I ask what the home looks like and then he says … (5 comments)

Things Learned in Mediation Training

Friday was a full day of class doing role plays and learning about the different methods of conducting mediation with REALTORS®. I have been an ombudsman for 6 years with my board and wanted to learn how to do that job better and be available if there was a situation where mediation may help resolve an conflict.

The instructor was very good and has been a national mediation trainer for 20 years. Mediation is a tool used to get the parties to come together with their resolution to the problem. The mediator purely facilitates the process and moves the discussion … (26 comments)

Ask an Ambassador - Should I Delete My Old Out of Date Posts?

I must admit I have been tempted to do this. So far I haven't and I am going to give you the reasons why.

Most of us blog for business and hope to reach the public. We want to be found on the search engines and want our posts to rank high so we can be found and recognized as an expert in our fields.

Posts about the market reference a specific time period and some may say they are not valid after some time has passed. Those posts have staying power … (76 comments)

questions: Do You Know Where Your Business Comes From? - 08/17/15 11:51 AM
Do You Know Where Your Business Comes From?
This sounds easy enough to know but I hear agents that work open houses that never ask why the prospect stopped to see the house and how the prospect knew it was open.
An agent gets a call from someone they don't know that wants to see one of their listings and the agent never asks how they found the agent's name and number.

A seller emails you to come … (86 comments)

Ask an Ambassador - How Can I Get My Post Featured?
This is a question many members wonder about. New people to the Rain are mystified by all the talk about Features and why it is such a big deal. A Featured post has been rewarded for being a good read and being special and it is marked as Featured and shows on the home page.
It seems like since ActiveRain went through the major changes last year, there have been fewer Featured Posts.  The "Suggest Button" went away and was replaced with a Like button. Almost every post gets Likes and some get lots … (68 comments)
