The Hale Byrnes House, an 18th Century historic home (now a residence and museum) of a Quaker miller was the center of a small settlement on the Christina River. Curator Kim Burdick spins tales of how the Byrnes family came to settle in Stanton, Delaware and how life was disrupted for this miller and his neighbors when George Washington decided to hold a war council at the house, AND to take all the provisions the community had stored up for the winter to feed the Continental army.
