fun: Frosty temps and Christmas Spirit Filled the Air! - 11/30/14 08:40 AM
The Westminster MD  Miracle on Main Street Electric Holiday Parade was a huge success! The annual parade is a fun family event for all ages. In Carroll it is a commencement of the holiday season.

The frosty temps didn’t stop the participants or the crowd from having a wonderful time. There were high school marching bands, a baton twirling champion, creative holiday floats created by local businesses and walking groups, like our group, members of Carroll County REALTORS® Association and our amazing supportive family members (Claire and I bundled up pictured above) handing out candy and wishing folks … (2 comments)

fun: What are your Easter traditions? Carroll County, MD - 04/23/14 01:49 AM

Did you dye eggs this year for Easter? Holidays are often shared with traditional food, events and activities. One of my favorites, also my childrens favorites has been dying Easter eggs. It’s fun, creative and creates a memory that far exceeds the new clothes and treat filled baskets.

This year Claire decorated most of the eggs herself. The eggs turned out beautiful and tasted delicious! Next year we may try the tips shared in this cute video DIY Vibrant Egg Colors by Brooklyn and Bailey are as vibrant as their eggs and twice as cute!

fun: April Fools Pranking it Forward! - 04/01/14 02:45 AM
April Fools Pranking it Forward! I think I found a way to celebrate April 1st! Truth be told, I can be a little naive at times, trusting is a better word. I like to believe the best in people. Gullible is written on the ceiling.  Did you look up? Well, yeah it happens.

I’m not a fan of April Fools Day because “jokes” often go far beyond a fun innocent prank. Salt in the sugar container, mashed potatoes in place of ice cream, you get the idea.

I am a huge fan of paying it forward! Giving is … (10 comments)

fun: Happy Maryland Day! - 03/25/14 11:17 AM
Happy Maryland Day!

On March 25, 1634, English settlers first stepped foot on Maryland soil. The Ark and the Dove, two small ships, departed England in November 22, 1633 and arrived in Maryland four long months later. The settlers endured a storm at sea, the ships were separated for a time and later reconnected at one of several stops to replenish supplies along their voyage .

Native Americans were frightened by the ships approaching Maryland shores. Leonard Calvert, Baron of Baltimore negotiated a peaceful agreement and settlers celebrated the with a day of thanksgiving for … (3 comments)

Activerain Spring MeetUp 2014 Spring? March 25, 2014? Spring? Can someone explain the snow plow/salt truck?

Snow was falling outside, it was an ugly day in Maryland, but inside inside Brio’s in Annapolis Town Center in was spring!  The smiles and hugs were warm as sunshine on a beautiful spring day! The Spring MeetUp went on as planned! Rainers came from around the corner and across town to enjoy the company of  this unique group.

I was enjoyed conversation and laughter so much, I didn’t take nearly enough pictures. It was a blast as … (8 comments)

fun: Daylight Savings Insanity Time ~ Sunday, March 9, 2014 - 03/07/14 12:01 AM
What time is it? I wish it was game time, I can’t get enough of our Baltimore Ravens! Unfortunately {sigh} it’s daylight savings time. UGH! I don’t mind sharing that I am not a fan. No surprise there, I go into daylight savings time kicking and screaming, in my own quiet way, every year. It simply messes me up!

It’s foolish to repeat the same problems over & over, I believe that’s the definition of crazy Albert Einstein put it this way “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” So WHY are we still … (7 comments)

fun: Sykesville Cinema in the Park returns for a second year! - 06/05/13 12:29 AM
Sykesville Cinema in the Park returns for a second year!

Saturday June 6th the Sykesville Cinema kicks off its second season of outdoor family movies in the park. They start at dusk and are shown on a 12’ inflatable screen. I believe this is the closest to a drive-in theater Carroll County has experienced in years. Bumpers Drive in was proposed in the early 2000 however, it never came to fruition.

You can make a day of visiting Sykesville by visiting the many fine shops and restaurants; enjoying the parks and trails; and taking the kids to ride the … (1 comments)
