It’s 2014 Fall Festival time !!   Here’s the list of all our Gainesvile area FALL FESTIVALS for 2014 So mark your calendars with all of these great events &  THINGS TO DO in and around  beautiful GAINESVILLE, FL.  Here is  a list of the WHEN, WHERE, and WHAT on most of them and put them in a blog post for easy reference!

gainesville arts: Cirque du Soleil is Coming to Gainesville in October 2011 - 09/26/11 09:58 AM
The Cirque du Soleil new show “Dralion“ is coming to Gainesville in October.   I have been a big fan of Cirque du Soleil for years.  I’ve followed all their TV shows, but nothing compares to seeingCirque du Soleil in person and up close.
This show is scheduled at the O’Connell Center for October 11th, 12th, and 13th.  I think the O’Dome will be a great venue for Cirque du Soleil.  What a great family event.  I booked my tickets and got great seats!  If you have seen La Nouba at Downtown Disney, then you’ll want to see this show here in Gainesville.   Cirque du Soleil has a great web site where … (2 comments)

Our 2011 Festival Season begins in Gainesville, Florida!   This weekend is the annual THORNEBROOK ART FESTIVAL.  I’ve always looked forward to this event, and I hope you do too!   Mark your calendars to attend this weekend,  September 24th and 25th, 2011.
The Art Festival at Thornebrook  is Gainesville’s  two-day art festival of  fine arts and fine crafts under the covered walkways and on the green areas at Thornebrook Village.   There is plenty of free parking too.  There are 140 Booths for artists, craftsman, entertainment, food & refreshments,  and children’s activities.

It looks like we will have fabulous weather for a fun-filled weekend in beautiful Gainesville Florida!  Saturday and Sunday brings us the 28th Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show.  
This is Gainesville's PREMIER FALL EVENT!
The event is presented by the City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs.  It is also one of the nation's premier outdoor fine arts festivals.
Things will get started at 10am on Saturday morning, November 14th through Sunday at 5pm. So, get this into your weekend plans.  Last year's attendance set an historic record of 100,000 attendees.  The excellent weather forecast will … (3 comments)

CEDAR KEY, FLORIDA - Festivals and Community Events! Annually, thousands of visitors come to enjoy Cedar Key's Old Florida Celebration of the Arts in April, the Fourth of July Celebration, the October Seafood Festival, and our newest festival - the Nature Coast Wildlife & Birding Experience held in the fall. Smaller events take place throughout the year including the Cedar Key Star Party, fishing tournaments, boat and kayaking events, nature tours, and community civic and church activities.

The Gainesville area has another feather in its cap today!   A front page article , by Nathan Crabbe, in the Gainesville Sun today provides all the details about Gainesville's latest HONOR.
The Smithsonian.com List shows Gainesville, FL as one of fifteen cities where "cultural-attuned retirees" should consider living!

Those of us here in Gainesville enjoy the various cultural offerings around us.  I think we have a vibrant arts scene that entertains us and draws visitors to our area.
