And now the much anticipated part 4... Environmental problems and problem materials.
Hardly an inspection goes by that I don't have to explain radon, lead, contaminated wells, asbestos, carbon monoxide or the biggest buggaboo... mold.
Okay people... I admit it, house problems rarely scare me.  It's not that I'm some invincible character who thinks crawling in a crawlspace isn't gonna harm big ol' me. On the contrary , I firmly believe these issues are very real and often dangerous...but most of them are way blown out of proportion. Today was a great day in Connecticut. Warm and beautiful...
Today we inspected a 3700 square foot home in Trumbull that had undergone substantial renovations...and a 3 bedroom townhouse.
The Trumbull home had a new roof, new kitchen wonderful bathrooms , but some items that were lacking, just make you wonder...
1. In the attic good insulation and ventilation...but above the pull down stairs...nothing. Don't builders realize all the heat will leave through a quarter inch of plywood on the ceiling of a center hall colonial.
A simple foam insulated box above the pull down will solve this problem.

Yes, while it's true most of us look forward to Spring and the wonderful changes that take place in this season except maybe losing an hour to daylight savings; Inspecting in Spring is so nice I might admit I'd do it at a discounted rate!
Spring inspections invite the imagination... think of the excitement as the trees start to bud-up you notice the pile of broken wings on the crawlspace vent...the first warm breezes begin natures prompting of a swarm of termites to try to create a new colony … (1 comments)
