Located north of Crescent H Ranch, River Meadows is a popular subdivision that offers affordable homes, a convenient location, and amenities such as fishing rights on the Snake River and a tennis court.
The development of River Meadows began in 1973 when Don Albrecht purchased part of the Harold Young Riverview Ranch. In 1981, he completed the first filing of the Ranch consisting of 18 lots averaging in size from one-quarter to one acre. The original sale price for lots at River Meadows ranged between $40,000 and $60,000.

I have particularly fond feelings for this wonderful neighborhood, as it's where I grew up. My best memories of it include sledding to the bus stop for school in the winter and hiking in the alpine terrain in the summer.
Originally, Margaret McNeely owned all of Indian Paintbrush. In the early 1970's, Joseph and Vincent Aveni purchased the land from her for development. The first filing was platted and sold in 1977. Subsequent filings took place through 1979, at which time 27 acres were reserved for future development. These additional acres would eventually be called McNeely Mountain.

The history of Gros Ventre North subdivision is yet another of the fascinating stories that makes up the colorful background of Jackson Hole.
Albert and Anna Pratt owned most of what is now the Gros Ventre North subdivision together with the Mountain Laurel subdivision to the south. This 2-lot subdivision connects Gros Ventre West with Grost Ventre North.

Fairway Estates is a development known for its beauty and grandeur with amazing views of the Tetons, as well as the Gros Ventre and Snake River ranges.
In 1979, the Lodge Company purchased approximately 138 acres from John and Jess Wort and platted the property now known as Fairway Estates into 39 lots averaging 3.8 acres in size. Although the development was caught in the recession of the mid-1980s, the last developer lot sold for $100,000 in 1990. I love to share with clients the history of the Ellen Creek development as it's so interesting. It all began with the Cheek family from Nashville that owned a property in Moose called the Bear Paw Ranch. In the 1940s, the family sold the ranch to the federal government, but held onto another piece of property they purchased along the Moose Wilson Road south of the Village. This property consisted of 120 acres, and they used the land for horse pasture. I forgot to mention. They paid $5.00 an acre for the land that over the years was nearly forgotten.
