If your agent isn't taking the time to explain the process- step-by-step, whether you're buying or selling a home, you need to find another agent. You should NEVER be in the dark when it comes to the transaction. Same thing applies to lenders. If you don't completely understand the financing after a lender has explained it to you, then find another lender. Financing and buying/selling a home isn't rocket science but like every other industry, it has its own set of complexities that can easily be explained if your Realtor and lender are willing to take the time to explain it. … (0 comments)

Don't have children? Plan to have them at some point in the future? The school district for that beautiful home that you've got your eye on should be at the top of your list of considerations when buying a home. Higher property values seem to go hand-in-hand with higher-rated schools. In most areas, certain boundaries define which schools your children will go to, and switching to a different school can be complicated and expensive in many cases- IF it can be done. If I've been offered "something" for "nothing" over the years, I have a tendency to question what that "something" really is. When buying a foreclosure property which is also called REO (Real Estate Owned), many times the REO bank will offer to pay for the buyers title insurance policy (called Owner's policy) if the buyer chooses that title company to handle the escrow. Sounds like a good deal, right? Take another look. What many of them will offer the buyer is a Basic Owners Policy which provides very little coverage for the buyer.
