CURB APPEAL blah, blah, blah. Real estate know-it-alls always KNOW its all about curb appeal!  That of course was THEN (when Barney Rubble was marketing his cozy stone cave). Since then we have had that little development we fondly call the WEB.  And of course that quirky novelty is now the 800 pound gorilla sitting where it chooses, squashing things like our quaint notions about how homes get sold.  So now it is all about WEB APPEAL.

Back in the 70’s, we had that back to nature thing going on -  Rough-sawn cedar paneling and deep walnut beams, and a lot of deep décor.  Today that style seems more fitting for a bear cave.  What then seemed like a rich and warm “denning” environment to our sensibilities now feels gloomy and oppressive.  These days light and bright and open are the watchwords. home staging: Smell to Sell or The aroma that is the aphrodisiac for home buyers! - 12/27/11 05:44 AM
The received wisdom - the aroma of freshly baked cookies is the key to selling a home.  But then, that's a tad weird in a vacant home...and then the question, if they are baking, why didn't they leave cookies and milk for us??  In addition, there is the buyer’s suspicion that someone is trying to grab them by the nose and manipulate them into buying the home.  And then there are the air freshener fans.  But how to choose?  Too pungent, too floral?  The question comes up from the buyer, what smell are they trying to Febreeze away?  And what about those … (0 comments)
