Today, 8/20/2015, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgage was 3.93% up from 3.94% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.15%, up from 3.17% last week. A year ago the average rate for a 30 year fixed-rate loan was 4.10%.
A Freddie Mac spokesperson stated:
"There was little movement in financial markets this week as the 30-year fixed mortgage rate remained steady, dropping only 1 basis point to 3.93 percent.
