spring: Tulips are beginning to break through - 04/17/14 02:43 PM
We are still up and down in temperatures here in Michigan, but the tulips are finally starting to become more prominent and emerge from the ground.  To me this is the sure sign that spring is really here.  Winter has snapped back a few days this week with icy wind and cold that has robbed us again of those warm walks in the park.  Hoping the tulips rising from the ground will hold the sun a little closer and warm things up.  Here are a few I photographed at the Meijer Gardens.

spring: The Beauty of Dogwoods - 05/17/13 12:07 AM
Perhaps one of the most beautiful flowering trees is the dogwood.  I came across this one in a forest here in Michigan last Spring, and took this photo.  Years ago when I lived in Georgia, I remember having purchased my first home in the winter.  When Spring came I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had nine dogwood trees on my property, as my whole yard came alive with these beautiful blooms.  I simply love the natural artistry of these blooms and the trees themselves.

spring: Taking time to breath - 03/15/13 03:36 AM
Sometimes in the business of Real Estate and other things, one can find that time is passing by quickly.  Just last week we had the change of the clocks again for daylight savings time, which to me is an indicator that spring and summer are just around the corner.  One has to stop once in awhile and take some time to breath, and just enjoy the rewards of life.  Sometimes that can just get forgotten.
One good way to do this, is to just go out and take a walk.  Walking can help you feel better, but also it gives you … (5 comments)

spring: The Faces of Little League Baseball - 05/12/11 01:13 PM
Every spring and summer, in the park across the street from my house, there are little league baseball games.  From our home you can see the baseball diamond and backstop, and one only need walk a short distance to be standing on the sidelines of the field of dreams.
I love baseball, so for me you might say this is a distraction.  Nonetheless, I still find myself pausing my work as a Realtor for an evening and wandering across the street to see the action.  In Piper Park, there are several age groups that play, but last night it was the age … (6 comments)

spring: Spring Flowers on Mother's Day Weekend & Memories of Mom - 05/07/11 11:10 AM
May is such a fitting month for the special holiday of Mother's Day.  When I was a kid in Phoenix, Arizona, my boyscout troop always held a 'Mother's Day Breakfast' where we sold tickets for weeks in advance, and then worked our tail cooking breakfast for literally hundreds and hundreds of people all day long.
It was our annual fundraiser to make money for a trip to Disneyland, and we all worked hard at it.  So whenever Mother's Day rolls around, I cannot help but think of those days.  One of my jobs at the breakfast was to carry the tray of … (6 comments)

spring: Softball and Baseball Games at Piper Park in Battle Creek, Michigan - 05/07/11 10:14 AM
I live across from Piper Park in Battle Creek, Michigan.  It has its benefits, as it is a wonderfully kept city park here in Battle Creek.  In the park during the warmer months, there are frequent baseball and softball games.
In the last few weeks, I have observed a lot of teams showing up and using the field for practice.  In short order games will start to be held, but right now it seems mainly to be a time of year for working the kinks out of your batting swing, and loosing up the old throwing arm.
People of all ages … (0 comments)

spring: Blue Skies in Southwest Michigan - 04/01/11 04:13 AM
Living in Michigan, we grow accustomed to cold winters.  However, another interesting aspect of living here is that the winter months tend be cloud covered most of the time, so one constantly sees gray skies, gray skies, and gray skies.  It is so commonplace that one finds themselves somewhat energized when the blue skies finally return for even a day or two.
Lately in the past week or two we have seen blue skies more often, which is a great indicator that spring is coming.  Our friends in the Northern part of the State are still getting snow off and on, … (7 comments)
