 INDEPENDENCE DAY IN AMERICA inspires a revival of nostalgic images that represent the high ideals that established our country...pictures that endorse the securing and sustaining of FREEDOM in our land. Flags, fireworks, parades and backyard grilling (the radio just announced that 815 hot dogs will be consumed per second on this day), and back to re-telling America's story of INDEPENDENCE...It's truly something to celebrate. It's also something to be so very grateful for and not take for granted any day, ever. land use: A WAR EAGLE Graduate, Auburn University - 05/24/09 06:24 AM
I attended the recent Commencement exercise of Auburn University graduates, as it included my daughter. The Commencement Address was given by former pro athlete and an AU alumnus, Vincent "BO" Jackson. It was a touching moment when he had all of the graduates stand, look towards where their family might be sitting in the bleachers, and say "THANK YOU" to their moms. The graduation also happend to be on Mother's Day weekend.
As for my daughter, I couldn't be more proud of this young woman's perseverence, fortitude and poetic heart of worldly compassion. As any parent knows that has attended a college graduation, … (10 comments)

It’s a bright and beautiful clear sky in Auburn, today, but come sunset (7:19 p.m.), stargazers will gather at the Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest for a STAR PARTY. The event, which is normally scheduled on weekends that coincide with the new moon, is organized by the Auburn Astronomical Society and the staff of the Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve.  Whether you are a serious astronomer or a simple stargazer--- or just looking for something really interesting to do this evening, there is fascination and fun for everyone (although not recommended for children under 5.).

 While her world is evolving and her days are revolving around the GROUND LEVEL explorations of her one-year-old, my daughter, Rebecca, has taken up the wooly feel of fine-grade felt and cotton embroidery threads, crafting stuffed, soft sculptures for the tactile world of her son. She just sent me a photo of one of her projects (Earth Blocks).
