It is almost time again for the Spittoono Festival in Clemson SC. This year it is being held August 19-21 at the National Guard Armory in Clemson.
ALL proceeds go to charity. There is NO ADMISSION! If you want to come down and listen to the free music all evening and not buy a thing, that's fine unlike may other festivals! Individual football game tickets will be available for sale to the public on Tuesday, July 6. The Clemson Athletic Ticket Office will have tickets available for purchase for every home game for the 2010 season, except for the Clemson vs. South Carolina game.
Tickets will be available for purchase online at ClemsonTigers.com or by phone at 1-800-CLEMSON. All group ticket orders must be placed by calling the Clemson Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-CLEMSON.

Interesting news was just announced that the National Park Service has placed Clemson University’s Lee Hall/Lowry Hall complex on the National Register of Historic Places.
Constructed in 1957-58 as the Structural Science Building, the building is considered by some to be a good example of modern architecture in the International Style.
The building was designed by Harlan McClure. He was hired in 1955 to head the department of architecture, then in the College of Engineering. McClure (1916-2001) later became the first dean of architecture at Clemson.

Clemson University has just announced that it has received a $100,000 grant to help South Carolina landowners improve forests and wildlife habitat.
The grant was awarded to the forestry and natural resources department by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. 2010 Conservation and Community Partnerships Grant Program. The money will be used to demonstrate and investigate how forests can be improved for wildlife and also managed for timber products.Forestry and wildlife are two of South Carolina’s most important natural resources. Clemson University broke ground this past Friday on a $31 million project to expand and renovate Rudolph E. Lee Hall in Clemson, which is home of the university’s design, build and visual arts disciplines.
The bulk of the project money will go to new construction, with the balance to renovate older parts of Lee Hall, including the original section constructed in 1958, according to the university.
The 55,000-square-foot new building will stand at the south end of the existing structure, where its footprint is intended to be light, even as it speaks loudly of design and innovation.

With the economy hurting many people today, it is great that the 10th annual Pickens County Health and Fitness Fair is happening again. It will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Central-Clemson Indoor Recreation Center, and it promises to be the biggest one yet.

It is time again for the Spittoono Festival in Clemson again folks! The Redneck Performing Arts Association will hold the 29th Spittoono festival Thursday through Saturday at the Clemson Armory on U.S. 76. It starts at 6PM and there are 18 bands scheduled to appear. Admission is FREE but there will be food, drinks and other items for sale at the festival. Proceeds from the event got to Upstate charities that assist children.
 
The bands schuled to appear include:
• Thursday — Rainy Day Women, Silver Dagger, Hoodoo Hounds, Tony Tidwell and The Beautiful Band, Swift Robinson and Orange Magnolia.

The local Christian rock band Forget Tomorrow will perform at Dunkin Donuts on Tiger Boulevard in Clemson on Friday night, Aug. 14, from 9 to 11pm as a fundraiser for Drayton Melton, 11, of Central, who is recovering from a liver transplant.
The benefit will raise money to help the Melton family pay for the medical bills that have accumulated during Drayton’s illness. Donations can also be sent in care of the Drayton Melton Fund to any BB&T Bank branch if you cannot attend.

In addition to Clemson's two first place rankings, the university ranked second for happiest students and its Michelin Career Center ranked third nationally among career services.
